      Re: Aveosam's MPG Thread

Case 4: A one-day trip to school and back. I was good on the way there and most of the way back staying under 75 mph....but like 3 exits away from home I saw this new grey aveo sedan (Conneticuit tags) driving up behind me and was like sweet another aveo and didnt think anything else of it because many other aveo owners don't notice things like that around here. well im driving a little further mainly paying attention to my speed and here honk honk and glanced over and it was the kid in the aveo sedan so I waved (dont think he saw tho because i had a delayed reaction). By the time i thought hey tell him to come here to the site traffic had gotten in the way, but I was determined so I was driving at like 85 mph tryin to catch up and write a sign on my notebook to visit aveoclub.net at the same time. in the end he got to far ahead before my exit came up (damn slow traffic). Maybe he is on here already and I just dont know it which would be weird because that would be the second member on here that I have seen inadvertantly in two days. heres the numbers

      Miles: 225.6
      Gallons: 6.629
      MPG: 34.0322824

Kinda sad slowing down 10 mph for almost the whole ride only netted a 2 mpg gain. once i get enough of these I am gonna start changing somethings on my setup to see how they effect the mpg. First will be plugs and wires because mine are still stock from when i bought the car in april 04 and i have burnt oil since then and i think residue build up on them would hurt effiecency

hahah so your leaning out your fuel to get better mpg...cheater!

Is there a difference for aveo owners with manual transmission, versus automatic, and how it affects fuel mileage?

yes, autos are almost always rated lower in mpg
      manual rating:24 city, 34 highway
auto rating: 23 city, 32 highway
I have an automatic incase anyone was wondering, which is funny because I am getting better than advertised mpg

      Re: Aveosam's MPG Thread

Sam, the reason I asked is because mine is automatic also. When the Aveo was new I got about 32 mpg, now that it has 80K on it I average 29-30mpg. Bearing this in mind I know I need to change the plugs and filters. I have always changed the oil every 3k but have been lazy with plugs and wires and such.
