      Proven Mileage tips?

I am very anal tracking mileage, drive the same speed shift the same and log each and every fill up on all vehicles! Anyone else as crazy as me with concrete mods that have improved mileage?

Way too early to tell forsure, but my fist tank 90% highway at 65MPH was only 28.99MPG.

Any mileage loggers with air filter, exhaust mods etc?

      Re: Proven Mileage tips?

I'm pretty anal too about tracking my mileage. I've got an 07 sedan and have tracked each fillup since the car was new. I log all my fuel purchases on fueleconomy.gov

Is your car brand new? If so, it takes awhile for the engine to break in. I didn't get past 30mpg until almost 4k miles. I currently drive in 50%city, 50% highway or so and am averaging about 29mpg. I have no mods on my car, but I do use synthetic oil. I've got the 5spd like you too.

If I drive all highway, averaging about 68mph or so, I've been able to get at most 36.8mpg. If I drive all city, its closer to around 24mpg. I'm probably going to put a K&N filter in around 30k miles (I'm only at 16k though), and I'll probably be getting Michelin Hydroedge (Low Rolling Resistance, 90k mile warranty) tires when mine wear out, probably within the next year too. With gas prices the way they are right now, I find myself caring a bit less about my mileage.

No matter how you look at it, these cars are horrible on gas, the 49 mpg that gm puts in the window is total bull****, a full tank of gas gave me roughly 330 to 350 kilometers on the 1.6, its horrible, hopefully the 2.0 im putting in wont be as bad.

See my signature for a couple of vehicles that are "horrible" on gas. Did you mean 49 mpg or 49 kilometers? Best thing you can do for better mileage is ease up with your right foot and keep the car well maintained. Even with the change over to winter blend gasoline I am still getting a minimum of 33mpg in combined city/hwy driving (double what I get from either of my other vehicles so I am pretty happy)

Wow, only 350km? something seems wrong there. I'm averaging 500km per tank when the idiot light comes on. I don't accelerate hard after every light, but i don't baby the car either.

Yup, this is a new vehicle, here is my log so far:
      Code:
      Date	Mileage	Trip	Gallons	MPG
      11/26/08	962	219	6.7	32.69
      12/04/08	1219	258	8.9	28.99
      12/06/08	1378	160	5.2	30.77
Currently running 5w-30 Castrol Syn. I plan to next change the manual tranny fluid to ??, any suggestions? I have considered gutting the CAT and freeing up the exhaust.

I drive 76 miles per day at 65MPH and a very light foot.

when i was keeping track, I rarely got below 30mpg...and if I did it was because I was driving like I stole it on some windy roads. Considering how old the engine design is compare to the fit and yaris, the aveo can get about the same. You just have to know how to drive it.
