      Quietest Performance Exhaust

Is anyone aware of a db chart, or can recommend a specific brand of performance exhaust that is the closest to stock as possible. I would like to add a performance exhaust but with my kids and my sanity I do not want to be subjected to the awful weedwacker sound I have heard come from a few sound clips I have listened to. Thanks for the information.

dynomax uses a walker quiet flow for a cheap higher flow yet quiet solution, available at summit racing, probably jegs, and ebay.

most good brand mufflers, magnaflow, borla, hushpower, and flowmaster, list their Db ratings. the lower the number the quieter it should be, but also consider size availability.

That will be great when I start doing some serious research. By chance do you know where I can find the db level for a stock '11 1.6l muffler? I put a call into the dealer but I have yet to get a callback... And you are a heck of a lot faster.

Size will be an issue, but an OEM muffler from any larger engine'd vehicle will probably be the quietest you'll find. It'll also be stainless and if you get it from a salvage place probably cheaper than an aftermarket muffler.

so say going to a 2.25 pipe with maybe a cruze or cobalt stock muffler would still be fairly quiet like stock, and still give a decent performance boost?

So...I just ordered a "performance" (mandrel bent) OEM replacement downpipe/flex pipe for my 2008 Aveo and I'm sure the performance won't be too noticeable, but I want to keep the mid pipe/resonators and add an aftermarket muffler that isn't super loud but will even slightly improve performance. I may add a CAI later but most likely will simply buy the OEM style K&N. My goal is to get a slight performance improvement without dumping tons of money into it and modifications.

Basically I want to replace my muffler but not be obnoxious.

My brother can likely weld it for me so that's not an issue, just looking for something that is approximate size and decent performance without being obnoxious....and I can't seem to find a lot about what people have actually done to their exhaust besides people saying "I added a custom exhaust" so I'm somewhat frustrated

      any help is appreciated!
