2013 Chevy Aveo Wont Start When Hot

      Hello.

Helping a friend. 2013 Aveo fires and work fine until turned off.

It will crank but not turn on when hot.

I'm traveling, so if you know of any part/sensor that could cause that problem, please let me know. Replaced CPS, no help.

Again, it will start and run fine if started with a cold engine it can run fine all day long, until turned off.

Sounds like vapor lock to me.

Try spraying a very small amount of sensor-safe starter fluid into the intake to see if it will fire on that.

Yes, many sensors but not that many that may cause that problem.

      Thank you anyway.

That will tell you if you are getting spark . Or you can use something like this to test spark .

Taking a stab in the dark , I would guess something in the ignition system getting problematic when it gets hot ? Coil pack ?

I suppose you might have a heat related problem with a crankshaft or camshaft position sensor ?

Does the fuel system have a Schrader valve , so you can easily connect a fuel pressure gauge ? Would be helpful to know what the fuel pressure is cold , then hot .

My understanding is , just about all the vehicle with electronic fuel injection have the pump in the tank . Pushing the fuel .

I think of vapor lock more with older vehicles with carburetors and mechanical fuel pumps on the engine ?

      God bless

Sounds like an electrical issue. Stuff gets hot, expands, stuff isn't contacting correctly anymore. You mentioned replacing the "CPS", I'm assuming this is *crank* position sensor, and not cam position sensor. I would start looking there, first.

A bad/disconnected cam position sensor won't cause a no-start situation, just a CEL. Check the crank position sensor. Another possibility is the "main relay". Some Hondas have issues with cars not restarting after getting hot because there's a fault in the main relay. I haven't heard of that on an aveo, yet...

Definitely check to make sure the car is getting spark and fuel, before you start replacing sensors, though. I could be a loose connection to the ignition coil, as well.
