      2004 aveo mannual wont start

ok got a new clutch put in 2 to 3 weeks ago. Then wed. it wont start. all lights and beeps work on car. Tried hitting the starter with a hammer and jumping the starter with a screwdriver. It made the winning sound but would not start. Got a new starter put on today and nothing. I checked all fuses and wires that i could and can find nothing blown or unhooked. It will not crank at all and i do not have a code reader to see if it is calling any codes. Does anyone have any idea. Thank you nate

If it just wines and wont crank with a full battery and good connections/cables/engine grund. It sounds like a bad starter that doesn't engage which you can put in the vise and hook jumper cables to it and test... or a really bad spot in the flywheel. A winning sound with a screwdriver test "usually" means you're not hitting the correct starer poles and just energizing the starter motor and not the solenoid. It should clank and spin. Starter issues are simple because you can test it on the work bench. Positive cable goes to the big stud on the solenoid furthest away from the motor. The case is Negetive and the Start pole should be a small stud on the solenoid. You gotta jump the small Start pole with the Positive pole. If you jump the Positive pole with the other large pole it'll just spark whine and do nothing. Think of the Start pole as putting the starter in gear. You can spin it all day but unless the solenoid clanks and puts the starter in gear its not gonna spin the engine. Either way.. you should be able to push start it and drive

so you can push start it, and it wont crank over?

is the clutch not disengaging? or perhaps the engine seized? what did it do when the let the clutch out on the push start? how fast did the get it going?
