      Transmission oil question and advice

I know my Aveo has a leak. I think it's from the engine/transmission seal. Anyways I know it leaks slow but I'm waiting for my clutch to go out so I can just replace the seal. My car was running a little low on tranny oil so it was slipping. Today I bought 2 quarts of redline mt-90 I put them in, drove like 20miles back to home and now my car has alot of oil everywhere. My question is did I put more oil then it should have and the car has a valve to relive excess oil or does my car just have a major leak now lol. Cause stopped right now doesn't seem like its dropping like water. I know it still has some cause the gear aren't slipping yet lol

Umm... automatic transmissions don't use a clutch...

So either you are misdiagnosing the problem or putting tranny oil where engine oil should go.

^^^that. Manuals don't use tyranny fluid, they use gear lube that you jack up the car and need a siphon to change

you can drain it by taking the pan off but you just need a new gasket. if you cant buy one go to oreillys or advanced or any local auto parts store and ask for a foot of gasket material. the fill whole is on the passenger side of the trans above the cv axle. you do need a pump to get it in.

Well I put the redline mt90 oil. From top of the transmission. Next to the battery below. Where it has a black cap. Just threw 2 full quarts in there. God I hate this Aveo lol

You didn't list the year of your Aveo - on my '05 the power steering reservior matches what you described. If that's what you put 2 quarts into, then it must be running right out from either a broken hose or blown seal. How does your steering feel?

it's a 2004. Steering feels the same so far. From what classic67 says it Looks like i stuck it through the breather valve then. But I instantly felt the difference. So figured I had the right hole nailed down lol. I'm going to go to the car wash and wash all that oil off. Yes it's a car wash that let's u wash oil off before anyone says I'm harming the environment lol. Maybe ill b able to see more clearly where the leak is from if there's another besides the breather valve leak
