      Uneven Thread Wear Rear Wheels

      Hi Guys,

Our unit have uneven thread wears on its both rear wheels. Most of the wear are on the outer threads.

I learned that the rear cannot be aligned. Is the uneven thread wears cause by unbalanced wheels?

Are you referring to tread wear? And you can adjust the toe and camber with a shim plate

Yes, rear wheels have uneven wear. I went to the tire shop and they said it cant be aligned as the rear wheels are fixed on the torsion beam.

      I'm getting confused

the wheels are bolted onto what is called a stub axle on the beam, these can be shimmed to adjust alignment using a shim kit like this:

HOW TO: Fit Adjustable camber/toe EZ-Shims to the rear beam / stub axle.

Have you ever rotated your tires? Maybe that has something to do with it.

I see... So this is the one the other 2 tire shops would do.

Actually I went to 4 tire shops. Two of them gave me a price quote and almost the same price range. The two other shop told me that it can't be adjusted.

So this shim plate is more of "workaround" right? Not written in the factory manual.

That's the next thing I will try. I was advise by my dealer to have the tires balanced first then have the tires rotated.

      I'll observe it then.

So without the shim plate, what could be the other option? Torsion beam replaced? I still have 3 and a half years of warranty.

They're being lazy, or they're lacking equipment. From the sounds of it you just need your camber adjusted, which isn't all that difficult to do!

      Just follow petrified.rabbit's how to.
