No radio reception on aftermarket install?

I have an 06 aveo and recenetly installed a sony xplod. The cd/aux work fine I can hear the music, but I do not got a radio signal, not even white noise on both AM/FM? Is this install problem?

did you put the antenna in? did you use an antenna adapter?

I plugged in the antenna, but nothing. I am not sure I need an adapter if the radio powered up. Wouldn't I get some type of noise even if the antenna wasn't in correctly?
