      A/C problem

I just bought one of those A/C pro freon canister. Ok, hooked it up, clutch engaging but still no cold air. On the A\C dial, my level of freon is good but still no cold air. What can it be

Hard to say with any precision, I am assuming the blower is blowing air, just not cold air? In that case I would say you are still low, as just the clutch engaging does not mean it is charged well enough to cool, but enough to run the comp. Do the hard lines under the hood get frosty cold with the compressor on? If they are cold then so should be the airflow. If they don't get cold, it is too low, or there may be a clog in the system.

Check for plugged condenser fins. Is the cooling fan engaging when the compressor is engaged? Is the evaporator and heater airbox clear of debris?

Correct. It's blowing air but not cold air. The clutch is engaging as well. I will check hi side and low side lineso today. I will also check for blockage. Do I pull the glove box to check evaporator

I will check all of that today. The thing is, when I press the nozzle on the can -for the freon to come out - it acts as if it doesn't want to take more freon. I am going to use another can

You could have a seized shrader valve.

Here's an interesting post on replacing valve core without dumping all your freon ...

And nice diagnosis Raggy ! Didn't occur to me that it could be that simple. Even if it's not Deep's problem, I'll remember that one.

OK it's time to use science.

AC systems work on a transfer of heat not cold. So you need to follow how does taking hot air from inside the car to the outside car. Putting Freon and hoping for cold air is not a diagnostic technique.

      1) start with the inside does the air inside get cooler? No?
      a) could be the the cold deck flap is stuck
      b) Is the air filter clogged up?

      2) Check lines going to the compressor. Is the line going to the compressor from the inside cold? Is the line going to the condenser hot?
      a) If yes to both, then it could be a good compressor low of freon (6T200 said)
      b) if no it's a bad comrpessor

      3) if you press on the shrader valves does Freon come out?

The best way to check for a bad compressor is to use a set of gauges and look for pressure differential. That means the compressor is working, if no pressure differential then it's a bad compressor.

Does the radiator fan or fans come on when you turn on the A/C ?

To do it correctly , you really need a set of gauges and scales to weigh in the charge , from empty .

If you are trying to top it off , the guages are even more important .

      God bless
