      '07 Aveo radio woes

Hey guys and girls, I'm having a few problems with my aftermarket radio install. I've got every wire hooked up correctly, and the radio works. But the funny thing is that if the antenna is hooked up in the back off the radio, the radio will not turn on with the switch, and it'll loose all memory when I cut the switch off. If I unplug the antenna, the radio will keep memory, and it will cut on with the switch on every time. What could be the culprit? Sorry for my ignorance, this is my wifes car, I know nothing about it, I'm a Supra guy. Thanks in advance.

it seems you are only drawing on ignition power and not hooked up to a constant for memory? and i agree, change or check your ground connection, (use your own?) as it sounds like the system is trying to ground itself through the antenna?

I figured out the problem yesterday.. Turns out, this radio needed the orange wire from the car harness to go to the red wire of the radio, and the red wire from the harness went to the orange wire of the radio. Completely backwards of any radio I've ever hooked up. Here are my Supras, the black one is a '82, with a '91 twin turbo engine. running 16psi on 2 ct-12 turbos. The blue one is pretty much a stock '85, and the white one has basic stuff. Exhaust and intake work, etc.

Oh, and thanks for the input everyone!

Nice, I actually traded my TE72 Corolla wagon for the white Supra. I miss it badly.

when I installed the alpine in my 04, I came across the problem of finding the wiring harness, apparently their are 2 different wiring harnesses, both of which plug right in, It took me probably 2 weeks to figure out which harness my 04 hatch needed. once I got the harness in, I had no problems at all with operation of the alpine
