Hi i`m new to the forum and just needed to know in what format do i need to burn cd`s for mp3 playback.
I tried .mp3 " dont work " does it have to have directory structure, or can it just be lots of songs in root directory.
      I get error 6

If you are using Windows Vista or 7 its very simple.

Insert a writeable CD into your burn drive.

Once the autorun window comes up, click to burn files to a DATA disc, NOT a music cd (very important)

In the "Burn a Disc" dialog box type in whatever name you wish for your CD and then click to show "Formating Options"

Select "Mastered" and click next (this will make your cd a one time burn disc that you can use in older pc's and cd players everywhere, like your car!) DO NOT use the "Live File System" format that will not work!

Now a new window will appear, where you can create folders and drag files into, so you can create folders to seperate your songs by genre or whatever you wish or simply just drag .mp3 files to the root folder.

Once you are done (make sure you are not over 700 MB, make it 690 MB to be certain), on the toolbar of that window, click "Burn to disc"

Wait untill the cd ejects, put it in your car and enjoy!

so nobody asked what he had for a player. I assume he has a the factory player? So does that play digital formats other than a std music CD? My player (Insigina) plays everything except the apple codecs.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....

standard player mp3 sticker on side

manual states this :If you burn your own MP3/WMA disc on a personal
      computer:
      • Make sure the MP3/WMA files are recorded on a
      CD-R disc.
      • Do not mix standard audio and MP3/WMA files on
      one disc.
      • Make sure each MP3/WMA file has a .m3u or
.wma extension, other file extensions might not work.
      • Files can be recorded with a variety of fixed or
variable bit rates. Song title, artist name, and album
are available for display by the radio when recorded
      using ID3 tags version 1 and 2.
      • Make sure to finalize the disc when burning an
MP3/WMA disc, using multiple sessions. It is usually
better to burn the disc all at once.

just working out what .extensions work
