      Oil in Coolant??

2009 Aveo5, 75K mi - After hearing all the hore stories about Aveo timing belt issues, i decided to replace it early along with the water pump. I drained my coolant and it looks like a milk shake - somehow, oil is getting into the coolant. Anyone hear of this? It's not leaking oil or coolant. Possibly through the oil cooler. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

It's probably a bad head gasket - if you are lucky, that is. It could be something more serious as well.

It only takes a small amount of oil to create an emulsion in a water based liquid. That's why you don't notice any perceptible oil loss.

I ve had the sludging prob in my coolant since 33k miles. I now have 75k. I flush the coolant every other year &the remove the resevoir overfill tank n clean it with pipe cleaners. Im going to drive it till she blows n then swap in the 1.8 astra/cruze/ sonic engine, hopefully to the stock trans to see how well it holds up.

Also all the "hore" stories you have been reading are pre-09. You have the ecotec, which is good for 100k miles. No horror stories about those...
