I read about a dual engine I think it was del sol with a couple civic motors in it once. Somewhere. Might consider looking someday for the forum and thread.

Here is an article about Car and Driver modifying a CRX to a twin engine variant: Car Lust: Twin-Engine Honda CRX I love the issue that the CRX at 20 years earlier has comparable performance to a honda fit.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....

you "could" make it run on one engine, you wont hurt the transmission necessarily. depending on how its built. but you would need to put a split in the electronics and the shifter.. vws use cable shifters, you just double up the cables on the attachment points and can shift both engines at once.. plus the electronics, clutch etc are joined for the driver..

ive seen the durocco run on just the rear engine for donuts, i forget what he did to make it work. my friends actually drove that car at a scirocco.org gtg.. they both insist it is insane.

for those of you still thinking about costs, your on the wrong side of it (unless your trying to afford it)..

here is a friends stance build.. he did a lot just to run 17s at a height he wanted..

Seriously, most of you cant even afford a damn under drive pulley or even an AEM cold air, and your talking complete engine and drivetrain swaps and even twin engine setups...

You guys crack me up! No offense...

I really dont mean to offend anyone by saying this, but over the years, and the old guys here that were on the previous forums will probably agree with me... I've seen over and over people talking about crazy ass projects like the ones described in this thread, but thats as far as they go, posts on a damn forum.

I have no objections on people thinking up such nice mods and yes it would be nice to see some of these but thats that thing... Stop talking about it and someone actually do it?? You've never seen me talk about stuff i wouldnt have done.

And when finally a member steps up to do a group buy or something nice like rabbit's coil overs, everyone says WOOT but in the end no one buys anything, less then a handfull at most! 5000$ engine swaps??? ... awd conversions????? comon...

Like i said, its nice to throw ideas out, but lets stay reasonable here... or at least someone do something about it.

In the rough 5 years ive been on these forums, theres only a few people that have done extensive mods on their car.

i've done bigger projects than what i'm contemplating for the aveo..

      VR6 swap into a mk2 (easy)
      350 into a chevette
      4.3l into a chevette
supra drivetrain into a ae86 (almost finished)
body drop and possibly rwd conversion to my rabbit (1/2 way done) = engine is stroked and bored, knife edged high rpm build..
chop top / suicide door vw beetle
      two show winning vw builds
      high hp mustang build

this is just the recent stuff i've done/ been doing in my little 2 car garage at home. If i was still working my car would have been built by now.

the awd setup isn't likely to happen. i cant have the car off the road that long, but the vw r32 drivetrain swap will be measured and compared to fit, as its been done enough to look into.. and it would just be TOO much fun in the aveo.

wait for what? i dont even know that you picked anything..

if you decide what drivetrain you want, i can look into what would be needed, once all the parts are here, we could do it.

I think i will either go with the aveo 5speed with some other parts like cams, or a cruze tranny and turbo the 1.6 or swap in the 1.4t
