in your country, its different, the f28 was awd, and such in europe. It was available as fwd in africa for some reason.
For the most part it will be different gearing, and size. But both will be a 6 speed and will bolt up to the bell housing.
The diff might be different sizes, as well the overall strength of the engine. (I can only speculate for the most part, as i have not seen an f28 in person, and i have only read about and driven the m32, not torn it apart.)

      f28 stuff:
      F28 Into Astra G

the m32 is also in african opels though.. i just found one maybe.

My dad bit the bullet and bought a Cruze with the 1.4t and 6 speed manual. I have been looking at the bolt patterns on the engine and they are completely different spots. The transmission however looks the same where it bolts on, just different shapes in the cast.

the block casting is different the 1.4t is a family 0 engine, and the 1.6 aveo engine is family 1.

I told my dad he should "adjust" the Cruze so it isn't so slow and he told me if I touch it I will not wake up the next day. The thing really is slow, it has decent torque but once it gets going it looses all of its bells and whistles around 70mph. He has put a couple tanks of gas through it and it is doing really well on fuel though. It is way to heavy of a car to be fast or anything.

I would be worried about upping the boost without engine and trans mount upgrades, the motor twists like crazy as is just revving it up in the driveway

In South Africa we had the opel astra/kadett 200ts it was a 2.0l 16v turbo with a fwd F28 6speed gearbox, in Europe they had the 4wd F28 gearbox. The F28 we have here also came with a limited slip diff. these are very scares and expensive here.

the f10, f13, f15, f17, f16, f18, f20 are all freely available here the most popular one to use is the f20 as it is one of the strongest we have, although people brake them all the time. We also have a f23 and then the m32 from the opel astra opc(vxr).

how about the cruze/sonic 6 speed auto, would that bolt up to the 1.6 auto. im hoping for better city mpg with the closer gearing and probably better trans ecu programing
