As an update, I had to change the complete lower arms. Couldn't find the bushings. Ball joints were still okay, but I replaced them as they came with the arms.

I can't find any problems with the wheel bearings - I tried pushing, pulling, etc. I spun the wheels and the cv joints sound good too.

The passenger wheel does seem to have some play at the tie rod ends, but the outer tied rod seems fine. The play seems to come from inside the boot at the inner tie rod. Are these replaceable? I see them listed on RockAuto and O'Reilly's, but not at GM

according to Gm it is not serviceable, however like you said rockauto etc list them, thats where most of the posts stopped. people saying they were going to order those, and never reporting back if it indeed works.

I know - screwy. I think I'll send an e-mail to the manufacturers (Moog), etc and see whats up.

In my 2005 Aveo Service Manual, it shows how to check for play in the inner Tie Rod (at its ball joint?):

And how to install the inner tie rod:

I took the car in for another alignment today. The tech commented on a failing strut and a loose stabilizer bar link, but no mention of a loose tie rod.

had the same problems. just changed my bearings and now it is fine. holding the wheels on top and bottom did not show a bearing was bad only when they were pressed out. i am using the bearings from a daewoo racer. lots cheaper
