Aveo5 ls hatchback clock

Ok so new to the forum, first post. I recently purchased a 2008 Aveo5 ls hatchback and the clock and secondary information module does not seem to work properly and I was wondering if there was a way I could repair it, rather than replace it as finding a replacement seems to be impossible these days. The odd thing is, while the time doesn't display at all every once in a while the door ajar symbol will work. But I have also observed that it sometimes will or will not ding when the key is in the ignition and the door is open and so I'm wondering if it's just an electrical issue rather than the clock itself. I have recently replace the related fuses. So I'm not sure and could use some advice. Also I was wondering if there was a difference between the 07 and 08 models of these clocks because I can find a replacement for the 07 but it has been discontinued in the 08, apparently.
