      Removing brake drum 2009

Attempting to remove brake drum, looks like the hub and drum are one assy? or is it that you can just buy it as one assy and they can be separated?

The drum is so rusty that it appears to be one assy.

Trying to remove dust cap, but it want one on hand just in case I have to destroy it getting it off.

      Appreciate the help

      -K

Starting in 2005, the hub and drums are separate components. The near interference fit of the drum on the hub causes removal difficulty, especially if it's been years since the drums were pulled off, and the drums are rusted onto the hubs. But with heat, penetrating oil, and lots of pounding, you'll eventually get the drum off the hub. Deano

Yup, 2 years! Last fall I did a full brake job on the front, right caliper was handing up due to stuck pin and wore the pads pretty food (left side were almost new)...finally wanted to check the back, so filled myself up with determination and wha la...got the drum off just to find out shoes were in great shape!

Just did the rears on the daily using the parts car (better rear brakes), and the passenger rear shoe was gone, burnishing the metal a bit (!), it did start to sound 'grindy'.. just put off for awhile. Got rid of the warped hub drum pulse thingy.

Forgot.. 110,000 miles on the car, its third hand so who knows
And I use the e-brake every day every time I park the car so the cable is good
