Anybody fit 195/60R15's on their Aveo?

I'm not liking the stock tire size of 185/55R15 for my girlfriend's 06 Aveo hatchback for several reasons. First off, it's a pain in the ass to find this tire size at stores and discounttiredirect.com only has two available tires in this size. Second, I'm hoping the added width will help somewhat during the winter and allow for more stability driving over bumps and potholes. Lastly, it seems that we are buying new tires more often than not, and I'm wondering if this is due to its small diameter. The 195/60R15's are 1.2" taller resulting in a 43.46 less revolutions per mile. While this does not seem like much, at 1000 miles it nets a reduction of revolutions of 43,460, at 10,000 434,600 less revolutions. Seems like an interesting solution to get more life out of my tires no?

The difference in speedometer's reading is negligible at ~ 3 miles traveling at 65 miles an hour and a difference of ~ 1.8 miles traveling at 35 miles an hour. We can live with those differences. Also, the taller tire size is much cheaper than the stock size which is always a plus!

So anybody running this size? Any input would greatly be appreciated!

195/50r15 would be my choice.. your revolution per mile math does not work.. the car still travels the same distance, using you math bigger tires shrinks the size of the planet..

The car travels the same distance but the larger surface area of the increased circumference results in less revolutions. For dramatic effect: Picture a car riding on 1" diameter wheels compared to a car riding on 10ft diameter wheels. Both travel for 1 mile - which tire do you think used up more tread?

I was thinking of it the wrong way, when your car thinks it went 10,000 miles. you will actually have travelled @10,462 miles.

That is irrelevant to the thread as I am not concerned with what the computer perceives.

petrified.rabbit do you have any trouble with them rubbing on the rear shocks with stock 15x6" wide Alum factory off set. rim's because it all most time for those rim's to get new tires & I was thinking of that size. Or even 195/55/15 but I think that size would be harder to find.

Just went from 185/60/14 to 195/50/15. Got some super grippy Bfgoodrich g force sport comp 2 rubber from discount tire. I am very happy that I stayed with the same diameter.
