      Wal-Mart

At Wal-Mart last week and they have a few wiring adapters and generic dash kits.

Would the generic GM wiring kit work to get rid of my factory AM/FM?

Is a Dash kit truly needed, or can Iwork an aftermarket deck into the factory location without spending extra cash?

      Thanks
      Jason

No the GM kit will NOT work, we use a daewoo kit... I recently installed a new single din Receiver in my Aveo, and had a hell of a time finding the harness, or at least the right one (I have the 07' Sedan) as far as the Dash kit goes.. to do things right yes you need one, and if I am not mistaken our cars of a unique kit, i know the packaging on mine says for Aveo only.

Okay, no offense to Dennis White, but DO NOT do what he did.

If you value your car, you will take the time, spend the money and do it right.
Go to best buy or maybe walmart, they may have the kit. Get the Daewoo kit, use the dash kit and the harness.

NEVER cut the factory wires. NEVER do the hacksaw job on your dash. Get the proper equipment and do it right.

      Here is why:
If you do a cut and splice job on your wiring, you give open access for the dealership to void the warranty on the electrical system of your car. Not to mention, cutting and splicing carried opportunity for catastrophic failure, and it just is not right.
Onthe dash, can you do it? Sure, if you have a steady hand, if you need to cut, but in the end, if there is an installation kit that will make sure it is right, with instructions an everything (dummy proof), why not use it?

Do it right, make it clean, it is just a better way to be...

      Re: Wal-Mart

I used to hardwire, but it's just easier to get the wiring harness.

therefore I will find one online.

Anybody have online links to the correct install and harness kits?

Have not found anything that lists "Aveo Only"

      Thanks

Of course there are tons of places to buy install kits cheaper than Crutchfield. There are some cheap deals for the dash kit and harness on Ebay.

it just depends on your ability ,,i very well may take a piece of sheet metal or license plate and make my mou\ting kit,,i want a nice solid area below radio for my 80 shot nos and purge switches(lol the actual purge nozzle is gonna jut out that vent on fender ) ,,,but if you have never done it and hav lil ability then spring for kit it makes it super easy ,,,im old school becaus back in the 80's few places carried kits so if u wanted a nice stero in your dodge demon or truck etc ,,u roughed it ,,thats why all these aftermarket dash places do so well now for old car market , because so many people ruined their dash trim back in the day

      A Chevy Aveo.
      Piece of crap....
Why? because its faster than your brothers civic? or because it gets better gas mileage than your scion?
