Any good alarm install will include a starter kill relay. This breaks the starter wire with a relay, and the relay is activated by the alarm to "complete" the connection. If you rip the alarm out the car will never start, unless you remove the ignition wires from the relay and reconnect them together. a little bit time consuming.
I recall some Honda folks mounting razor blades in their wheel well so you couldn't get to the hood release from the outside without messing yourself up. Thens someone sued...

I have installed the boxes anywhere... When you ask an individual, most will have you install them in the backseat panelling... Had a few mounted in the door panels with the wiring loomed with the speaker and door lock wires... Had a few that I have installed steel plates on the steering column to make it hard to get to (got this idea from my Jeep)

dude your the man...i just had somebody at work ask me about this because he broke the alarm clicker for the car he just got and its an aftermarket alarm and he cant start it now....i told him it was hooked into the ignition some how but i just didnt know how it worked.
