'07 Aveo 5 to '07 Barina conversion (need info)

Aveo to Barina Conversion

As it says, I am converting my Aveo into a Barina.
Why? I prefer the look of the Barina.

My main concerns are; shipping, legal, and compatibility.

#1 Shipping

Can I ship the exterior parts (F bumper, headlights, emblems) to the US?
I live in Northern Michigan. I plan on, if it's possible, buying them from Australia.

#2 legal


Is it legal to get those parts shipped to the US, and is it legal to use them?

#3 Compatibility


Will those parts fit the Aveo with little or no modding?

Have you tried a nation wide search with your local wrecking yards for those parts? They put feelers out on the internet with other auto salvage yards all over the US.

Maybe ?????? others have had those types of cars shipped to the states and a few of them have been wrecked over the years and are now sitting in salvage yards?

Sounds like a long shot, But I know the guy who found the needle in the hay stack! LOL

Legality? This is America comrade, we can do whatever we want. People ship JDM parts over here all the time. Whole cars not so much. I'm sure the headlights won't be up to DOT specs, but as long as you don't ask for trouble with a blinding HID conversion nobody will go looking for it.

Well, only took a couple of months, but you guys came through. Thanks for all the info.

I don't know about finding any salvaged kalos/barinas any time soon. I may have to wait a while and buy the $410 headlight set on ebay. About a bodykit, the Kalos Otto kit is beautiful imo.
