I am considering getting a used engine for the aveo but I have no idea what I'm looking for. All of the ebay ads I see list Vin 6, 8th digit and stuff like that
what in the world does that mean?
Not sure if this is probably the best thing to do since engines are ranging from 5-700 plus $300 in shipping fees.

look at your vin, you have a 6 in the 8th digit? of course you do, all us aveos should. its just a common way of telling engine option code for cars with more than one engine option.

Copart.com offered $900 for the car as it sits.... lame
Try to find one locally to avoid the shipping. Even if you have to rent a truck, its still way cheaper.
car-part.com shows some locally(well within FL) but they are listed at like $1k-1500....
