tell me what u guys think ?? it looks tite to me but im skeptical http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrole ... enameZWD1V
noooooooo, this is from that jackass frank, dont trust that guy, ive had bad experiences with this dude, that aint a real turbo for the aveo, even tho it says it is. like someone on this forum said (i think it was aveosam, apologies if it was not) "anyone can throw some parts on a blanket and call it a turbo kit" lol
hmm i dont think that was me but sounds jackass enough to be  i dunno this kit looks pretty legit but id have to see the pipes test fitted before i bought it. plus to get the most out of the you would probably want to get a good piggyback system to tune it
It's not legit. Take my word (and experience) for it. I'm taking him to court as soon as all the papers get filed (unless he comes to his senses first). And it doesn't help that last month he was arrested for impersonating a law enforcement officer. Stay away from Frank and build it yourself.
i want to build it my self but i just think it would cheaper buying it from him or someone else can i get all those parts and the custom stuff i need like piping for around that price
It's not cheaper from him because you won't get it. And yes, you could get everything you need for less than that. The only appeal that I saw in it was that it would be a lot easier to do it that way. Boy was I wrong. Plus, I can promise you that he will be losing his business as a result of my court case against him. So now would be an especially bad time to be buying from him.
All that being said, I know that some people just have to find out for themselves. I know that I did. I was warned and didn't listen (although I didn't pay NEARLY as much as he's asking for on ebay). So if you feel the need to go ahead and try it, then be my guest. I understand the curiosity. Just be willing to accept what happens. I blame no one but myself.
looks like a universal piping kit with a turbo and maybe the turbo manifold for the aveo.
thanks for looking out would you be able to im at zebracake12804 to talk to me about putting together a turbo kit for my car
here's a crazy idea: someone could do a sudo how-to, atleast detailing parts. We have a how-to section after all.
putting the kit together is the easy part, its tuning that is the issue. we need to figure out a way to do this, i know smt6 will work and someothers of course megasquirt, but most people feel this is to complicated. unfortunatley there is not a wasy way to do it.
no one said tuning was going to be easy on any car
take it to someone who knows how to tune with what ever system you get....tuning is part of the reason i am going with a honda k-series engine because hondata makes an amazing tuning program from the stock ecu and theres tons of people who know how to tune it
agredd hondata is the **** man, my buddy rolls around in a gsr with a type r swap and a custom turbo kit. been running hondata for some years. its a dam fast car
yea i know it sucks, i use to hate hondas, but its just the honda drivers i hate....most of them are dumb as **** and know nothing (signs of that are the classic rice big wings and ugly bodykits) but Ive found a few I can stand and actually know their ****....i actually almost started buying my parts for my project car the other day off a honda forum but with the aveo nearing 45000 miles i figure id keep that money to spend on a new timing belt....theres always good deals for honda stuff if you look around and tons of aftermarket
Speaking of timing belts, im nearing 80 000 km on mine, lets hope it holds for a little while longer cuz i have no money to change it lol
be easy on it. As soon as you get the chance i'd change it and be done for another 80k.
yea lets hope it holds out of you will have to buy more than a timing belt most likely if it breaks
speaking yet again on timing belts... i'm nearing 45,000 as well...
41,000 miles here. Just got a quote of almost $400 from my local dealership to replace it.
holy crap. Can't someone design a freaking chain and gear timing for these?
holy, id better learn to replace it myself
phew good thing my dad is mechanic lol
lucky bastage!
For some fairly good information about putting together your own turbo kit, I have found the information on this site informative in the past. If any of you guys looking to boost the engines in your cars find it helpful, I am glad.

Make sure you check out the forums.
Ryan
i think our biggest problem with boosting is tuning the engines computer everything else is kinda easy.
Here is a legit kit http://www.maximumboost.net/index.php
NO NO NO NO NO!!! That is the same guy as is selling the one on Ebay!!! Only difference is he'll talk more of your money through the site.Quote:

Putting one together is easy. Getting it to work (and work well) is the challenge. :wink:Quote:

Exactly
Yeah I still don't know how to put one together, so if someone could take some time to fill us in that'd be great. I hear you for the tenth time that tuning is a PITA but thats not what I am asking for.
A basic kit is pretty simple. I'm sure some people would say that I'm leaving out important stuff, but I'll leave it to them to post those.
Turbo manifold
Turbocharger
Oil feed and return lines
Wastegate
Blow-off (or bypass) valve
Intercooler
Intercooler piping, couplers, etc
Some sort of fuel management (this is where the challenge comes in for us)
Downpipe
I maybe able to get this done this fall (buying a house this summer, so it has to wait). Atleast I'll have a garage to work in. With those parts you listed what exactly am I looking for? Thanks.
whew im glad Ryan got me in here... wait for it...

ditto this. If you want, I can scan in and post a notarized letter from him detailing his company's (if you can even call it that) "financial hardship".Quote:

We are meeting up this week to get stuff started on providing a REAL Bolt-On Turbo Kit for the Aveo.... and this time I will get to be present during development, instead of contact through email/chat.
