Drive by wire (DBW) 2.0L drop in motor?

Ok, this is a question that's been burning at me for a while, and I can't seem to find a positive answer.

Did the 2.0L that will drop into our car come with the drive by wire? if so, is it compatible with the aveo's? And if not what can be done to make it work?

Also, what year/make/model of car should I look for to find a DBW 2.0L that will drop in.

I will think of a better signature later.

there is only one person here currently that has done it. but im not sure if he was cable or dbw.

from my understanding its the chevy epica(canada), suzuki forenza?, or even the daewoo whatever.
with a 2008 your going to have an issue finding a same year engine or newer (as proposed by most emissions laws)
but i believe you will still be able to find a dbw. IF not, the conversion to drive by cable is not hard at all. VW owners do it all the time.

I know nemesys has done the swap. I believe he is drive by cable.

I'm more curious than concerned. But having DBW on new motor would simplify things.

I have a 2006 (DBW) and never took my throttle body apart. My other car (truck) 96 ranger has a cable. How does the throttle body work on the DBW Aveos?

basically its an electric actuator. the gas pedal is just a potentiometer? if thats the right term.. it sends a volt signal to the throttle body to open a set amount for the change n voltage.

Cool! Being a firmware programmer I have a good idea how these systems work. I know the computer takes the input from the gas pedal (maybe 0-5 volt signal) the the computer sends an output signal to the actuator. I just wanted to know if it was an actuator driving a blade valve in the throttle body. Sounds like it is. I still have a dream to a dual engine powered aveo.

ive been thinking about it too, not practical for me at all, but found an entire wrecked 2009 aveo with drivetrain for $750..

$750 for the parts to have a 200+ hp awd aveo would be a lot of fun..

hehehe, I will settle with my 2.0L swap. However I am a fan of the dual engine mod. Good Luck and definitely post pics of the project if you do it.

You could always make it a "limo" (i.e. keep your rear seat and still have space for the second engine. )
