So I officially hate my car.

I'm beginning to despise my aveo with a passion, really. When I bought this car I was just your typical teenage boy that only cared about piling my friends in a car with our skateboards and going from place to place skating without wasting much gas. Now that my maturity has developed more and my interests have grown with it, I've decided that I love cars.... just cars in general, muscle, imports, luxury... whatever it is really... So my life will soon revolve around cars as most of you know, my dad owns a 38 year old custom car shop. Which I will be taking over. I'm going to school for auto-body and auto-mechanics for the next few years, and am very very interested in the import scene, I'm in the local scene, but tonight, after racing a STOCK honda accord and getting my ass handed to me, I realized that this car really is just a cheap daewoo econo box that looks cool and there is nothing I can do about it. I want a new car, a REAL import. Any suggestions on what I should do? I'm seriously extremely bummed out right now.

A honda accord is a much larger car with a larger engine. It's hardly a reasonable comparison. Of course the aveo is a cheap econo-box car, if you couldn't tell that before you bought you have a lot more to learn about cars. The aveo is a fantastic little fun car to drive, so it's not the fastest car on the block, but you should've figured that out on the test drive. Give the car a chance.

Sounds like you have a good start on the Road you have chosen.

      BUT...

      Maturity? You need some more.

Your life will soon revolve around cars? What have you been doing for the last 10 years?
I would bet that your Dad would have loved to teach you the ropes as you grew up.

A REAL import? You own an Import.

In my opinion, a true "Car Enthusiast" would not be whining. They would have already made the change to a different vehicle or be figuring out how to get the best potential out of their current vehicles.

Sorry, but this post just is annoying me.

Well, well, you got beat up by a Honda.
So you want to go fast and kick some Import ass, for about 6 grand you can do it.
Go to your Chevy dealer and buy a 2.4L supercharged crate engine and drop it in your Areo!!!!!!
      Look I can fly!!!!!!

      P.S.
Your still cheaper then that Honda.

something tells me your dads shop is going to be in trouble. with an attitude like that.

first off, a 38 year old custom car shop i am sure has fabbed as many parts over time as you could imagine making for your aveo.

second, there are thousands of stock cars that are really fast off the line, and going straight. There are basic family sedans pushing almost 300 hp now. Take that accord to autoX and see how it does compared to the aveo, you will be more even if you add turns.

getting rid of the aveo because it is not a race car is actually stupid. I bought mine because i am building another car as a race car. maybe you should consider that. It seems younger kids dont understand the one car doesn't fill every shoe.

Dude, you only paid 10k for it...your just realizing that now?

And did you see that other thread about how meaningless a street race is as far as determining if your car is fast or not?

Your young and you'll have lots of cars in your life, especially with the shop situation you mentioned.

You aveo is helping you save for those better cars right now.

Start embracing your place in life. Hating your aveo will only cause you to beat on it and waste your money.

How fast was that honda if they had to stop for gas before they got home and you didnt?

And you mentioned there's "nothing you can do"

I've seen plenty of speed helping mods on this site.

Concentrate on gaining all the motor knowledge you can, and going fast in any car will follow.

Not sure if your is the auto, but Mines the 5speed, I can drive it so that its plenty fast.

And then if I feel the need for speed, I can go get my other car (that I can afford because of the aveo) and lay rubber all throughout the countryside. I get lucky in my city, that rural area's are only a short drive away.

(and not worry about tickets pedestrians and traffic) - 3 GOOD reasons not to street race in urban area's.

Save up for an R8. That's a real import and I doubt you'll grow to despise it any time soon. For now, hookup with an autocross club and have real fun learning what it takes to make your little Aveo go faster.
PS Please stop street racing. It's dangerous and foolish.

Re: So I officially hate my car.

I appreciate the replies, but to some of you, when I bought the car, I was only 16 years old and showed NO interest about cars at all, I had a ford escort before and totaled it because I didn't care about it and thought I could drift in the snow. So that shows you how uninterested I was in cars. So I'm sure my dad didn't expect me to become interested. I paid 6 grand that I got for my escort from the insurance company for the aveo... I was told that that was extremely cheap for a repo job, I drove it, thought it was fast because the throttle must have been pretty tight, and so I wanted it. (I was a dumbass little kid.) So now I'm suffering from it. I've recently been looking around to see how much I can get for my aveo and get a different car for... I think I pretty much made up my mind about it after the research I have done on this car and this motor and the things I have learned on this website. If someone wants to fix up this car, they gotta be DAMN good at fabrication, or have a LOT of money. i can't name 5 parts they make for the aveo... which is sad because I love the little car, it has a LOT of sentimental value.... More than anyone can imagine... But, changes have to come eventually, and I think its time for a car change to come...

Re: So I officially hate my car.

      Well alright then.. C-ya!

Maybe someone can get a great deal on decent little used Aveo, and you can go tool around town in an easy to own 'real import', that shows everybody that your the fastest.

There's a sweet catalog of parts and a ton of vendors just waiting...also lots of traffic stops wastes of time at court and the DMV and the extra work for the extra gas and insurance. I just say this because -- 'been there done that'-- I had to grow the hard way and figure maybe I can save you the hassles. When I wrote posts that expressed idea's like yours (well it was a little before the time of posts) but anyhow,.. I didn't have a good idea as to what real hot rodding was. We all want to see you grow to be a cool hot rodder, not an annoying kid racer. Waiting to wreck. The worst way to have to learn is with a wreck that results in someone losing a life. Sounds like you know a little about wrecks with your Escort exp. So dont go off and learn the hard way. If you do...don't say you weren't warned.

Its hard to tell a persons character from a few posts, so maybe I got you wrong.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say your a smart kid, just coming off wrong in what your posting. You'll keep it shiney and on all 4 wheels.

Most of all remember to Have fun whatever you buy and do!
