      Idenity Crisis

My wife bought a 2003 "Chevy" 5-door sedan. Everything on it, and the paperwork, states the model is "Chevy." However, I can't find that classification anywhere. It looks like an Aveo but I'm not sure. Anyone have a clue for me?

The reason I'm jumping into this is a problem has surfaces of engine dying. Indicators lead one to believe it's an ECM map that's corrupted but no way to verify that as there are NO FACTORY WRENCHES in Mexico! They've just about changed every part connected to "fuel, ignition" but they haven't hit paydirt yet.

My biggest problem seems to be identifying the model of the car. The model name on the raised relief simply says "Chevy," as does the Operator's Manual. Yet, Chevrolet shows NO listing of a "Chevy."

      Thanks for any help,

      John

we cant really help you if we cant see it. if you cant readily post pics just try and find a pic on a random website for us to look at.

have you tried leaving the battery unhooked overnight?

also, not sure what you mean by factory wrenches but the aveo uses metric sockets. go to the nearest hardware store and pick some up.

hope you get the prob fixxed, good luck!
You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

First thing, your post doesn't make sense. You say you bought a 5 door sedan. Never heard of a 5 door sedan. Hatchback, maybe, SUV, maybe. Chevy did not make an Aveo in 2003, so I doubt it is an Aveo. As previously stated, post pics if you are seriously looking for help.

      Re: Idenity Crisis

Here are front, side and rear shots of the car in question.

As for my comment reference to "wrenches," it's wasn't meant to describe actual hand tools but, rather, mechanics. None here are factory trained and I seriously doubt any of them know how to read a manual, let alone pick one up and open it, just to look at the pictures. So far, I've been to two dealerships and 3 independents. No one has a clue! Oh, they want to replace all the obvious pieces but can't attack the problem.

Anyway, hopefully someone can identify the exact model name of the car. I always just thought it was called a "Chevy." Stupid me. LOL

Thanks for any assistance. I'm living in a knowledge wasteland, I see.

Looks like the name is actually on the left side "TAMPA" maybe? Or "LA MPFI"? Anyway it looks more like a Chevy/Geo Metro to me

Left side of rear shot says "1.6 MPH", whatever that means.

      Re: Idenity Crisis

The side profile def. looks like a metro, but the front of it looks like a suzuki. And is that really an 03?

I guess the language/cultural barrier got the best of me on the wrenches part

      is it maybe a corsa?
