the cost of running your aveo?

just a quick question or two about the cost of running you aveos. in england the petrol and insurance prices are insane.

petrol at the local garage costs £1.40 a liter wich is £55 to fill a tank!!!

also the insurance on my kalos is £890 a year! fair enough im 21 but thats maddness!!!

      cheers, jonny.

      I get @27 mpg @ $3.59 a gallon.

Pay $35 a month in insurance.

Car is paid for from here on out.

Figure another $200 or so a year in speeding tickets

Gas is $1.2 CAD a liter here, costs me about $40 to fill at 1/4 tank.

      $170 for insurance a month, or $2040 a year.

Looking at $210 to $250 a month for me in operating costs. Around $400 if you include car payments. Your insurance cost is awesome, mine is at $170 because I own two vehicles and get multi vehicle discount for my one that is stored right now, otherwise it would be $210 ($2520 per year) a month. On the flip side you are paying about $2.18 Canadian for gas right now when converted, but technically my cost is roughly the same in terms of actual money face value.

It cost to fill up around $40 at 3.87/Gallon = $160/Month

      Full Cover Insurance = $109/Month
The car is already paid off.

      Total = $269

How old are you and what kind of insurance do you have? I'm 26, in Montreal and I'm paying $100 per month for full insurance with a group insurer.

When I think "cost of running the car", all of the following comes to mind:

      - Cost of buying the car
      - Insurance
      - License
      - Registration
      - CAA membership
      - Gas
      - Regular maintenance
      - Unexpected maintenance

It adds up to significantly more than 'insurance + gas' that a lot of people seem only to count. Gas in Montreal has been $1.25 - $1.35 per liter for a while now, pretty crazy when it costs almost 50 bucks to fill up an Aveo which can barely get 500KM per tank. Mileage goes by really fast.. I live and work downtown and I still use at least 2-3 tanks per month just driving around a few times per week.

i'm 31. (how many of you are surprised?)

i've never paid more than $40 a month for insurance even when i was 16 (although it wasn'f full coverage then)

      I have owned/rregister over 100 cars, but my r32 was $32, my s4 was $30, my mustang was $40, my wife's cars are all about $40 + or - a couple bucks.

I currently have 3 cars the aveo and my 08 chrysler t&c both with full coverage, and my vw rabbit with only collision. I pay less than $100 a month, and i have an extra $250k on my policy from "minimum" to protect my house and other assets incase i am sued..

I'm in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Gas is $1.24 per litre, only had the 2004 Aveo for a few days now. So can't say what the MPG (km/L) is yet. But it was on empty at the dealer and putting in $35 gave me a little over 3/4 of a tank. Insurance is $27.18 per month that's including my motorcycle too, so I can't complain. The car itself is paid for, saved up and paid cash.
