Angry About ready to throw in the towel...

Took a long trip this morning and low and behold, the shuddering and shaking came back, the blinking check engine light and hold light. Used my new OBD II and it says I have a multiple cylinder misfire or a P0300. I did wires, I did spark plug, I did ignition coil pack, what can this possibly be? Frustrated...

      What Causes a P0300 Code?

      • Low Fuel Pressure
      • Vacuum Leak
      • EGR system malfunction
      • Internal Engine Problems (such as low compression)

      Less Common Causes

      • Faulty Coil
      • Faulty Spark Plugs and/or Wires
      • Camshaft or Crankshaft sensors
      • Ignition module
      • Computer

      <- big hose or holes?

If you have a vacuum leak this will cause the issue. So check carefully and make sure the clamps are tight. Esp, before the throttle body.
Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....

yeah, that intake Pipe having MASSIVE Tears in it is no bueno; its because this intake pipe is AFTER the MAF (at least on the 09+ cars with the Ecotec engine) and those air leaks cause the air entering the engine to be MUCH leaner than what its supposed to be.

Update: Ok, the car is 10 years old, wont complain, nothing lasts forever. I took the hose off between the manifold and the air filter housing. I duct taped it up (see pictures). Trying to get the cover off the air filter housing was not good. One side was broke. The other, well lets say the screw would turn but not budge. So Guess what happened....??? Yep, that broke as well so we took out the whole housing unit and duct taped it together (see Pictures)... Ok so here is the weird part. For some reason, now, I don't have to press hard on the pedal to get power. It went to 55 in no time and not a single skip, and btw, it was skipping like crazy to my uncles garage. So a somewhat happy ending. I have a hose coming and monday I will go to a U-Pull -It place and get a new (used) air filter housing unit.Name: 2015-03-28 15.05.25.jpg

yup, there's Definitely Air Leaks in your Induction system, at least the Duct Tape will keep you on the road (and the PCM Happy) until you replace the air box and intake pipe.

Both those items are very common to go on the 1st generation Aveos. I had the same happen to my filter housing (when I had an '04). I unbolted mine from the car and actually drilled out the screws. I ended up using small diameter, long nuts and bolts to keep it together.

Good to hear you may have found your gremlin.
