      WTF are you talking about?
      A) Why do you feel I have a "holier than thou" attitude? I was sating a fact. If I ever owned a car till 60k miles, I prolly would be guilty as well
B)By too late, I meant after it breaks.
I read it a little different than you might have intended. I read it as "you better replace it, I'm telling you because I'm the know all". But I think you mean... "hey man, there's a damn good chance it's going to break so you shouldn't drive your car until after its fixed otherwise you will be shelling out about $500 for a used replacement engine plus whatever the install runs you"

As for the too late part, I'm saying it's recommended to replace it at 60k, but sometimes thats too late for the belt. The belt breaks around 55k sometimes sooner.

he states that the timing belt was replaced before he got it. He was sitting close to 80,000 miles back in January, probably in the upper 80s now. He even said he was going to replace it around 100k miles. That seems like decent servicing to me, no?
Yes i got the car at 63,000 miles and i was told that all 60,000 mile matanice was done i was planning to replace the belt at 100,000 miles but just over 90,000 miles like 90,025 miles the belt broke the teeth came off about a 2 inch stretch of the belt. here is the problem we aveo owners have an interferance motor. Yes they do make room for this problem BUT if you have build up on the valves you no longer have the space needed to save the valves i used injector cleaner and tecron and octain booster to pervent the valves becoming a problem but i guess i didn't do enough. today they told me ALL the valves are bent. my $375 repair just jumped to over a grand or more. everything i read says it a $1600 - $2000 Job in U.S. Dollers for you canadians. Look the lesson her is if you have a timing belt that is over 60,000 miles on it you NEED TO REPLACE IT NOW! if you got your aveo used and it has over 60,000 mile on it Just get it done it will save you Money in the long run. my car was a ticking time bomb i took the dealers word that ALL 60,000 mile Service had been done that means the timing belt was replaced MINE wasn't i have the stock belt. i will be talking to my lawer in the moring about sueing the dealership for selling me a car that DID NOT have a service done that they told me it was.

      Re: Timing belt Snapped

so i am just getting it all fixed i know that my motor is good and if i swap it out i may get a crappy motor and still have more headach. it would be about the same to do both but i would be stuck with a timing belt that needed to be replaced on the new motor in a few miles. so i am right now just replacing the valves. BUT if the pistons are messed up i will have no choice but to replace the motor.
