      Head gasket question

Hello I have a 2006 Chevy Aveo LT and I bought it used and have had to deal with a laundry list of issues that I’m sure is common and I’ll list all of the ones I need taken care of here after I ask my question. At what mileage should I have my head gasket replaced due to a common problem at least state side that Chevy Aveos have head gasket issues. My 2006 Aveo last I checked had 125,971 miles on it I know I’ve put a couple more miles on it since then but not much I would like to know if I should just have a consolation with my mechanic about it or wait till a certain mileage happens.

And without further ado here is my laundry list of repairs in the two columns one of the major preventative maintenance and the other will be I need to get done soon but can wait all including parts labor and tax by my mechanic if I have a quote done and I’ll round it up if I don’t have it written down

      Major preventive maintenance items:

timing belt & water pump $644.72 USD
      valve cover gasket $350 USD
Throttle body w/TB position sensor $230 USD
      Head gasket $??? USD
      Passengers side seatbelt $370 USD
      Airbag sensor $260 USD Completed

      Minor preventative maintenance items:

oil changes $35 USD + $25 USD for tire rotation
      brakes $??? USD
Full set of tiers plus balancing $240 USD
      O2 sensor bank 1 $90 USD
      O2 sensor bank 2 $70 USD
Revers clear light bulbs $10 USD (completed and done by myself)

There is no systemic head gasket issue with the Aveo. The gasket blows if the vehicle badly overheats, just like with most other makes and models.

Ask your mechanic to check for dangerously rusted brake lines, specifically at the area right behind the stand-offs which are located closest to the wheels.
