2007 has no power when I accelerate

07 Chevy aveo starts and runs but when I push on the gas to accelerate the RPMs go really high but car doesn't seem to have power and therefore doesn't gain speed as it should.....changed the air filter and spark plugs also had oil changed and seems now to be getting worse.....even after changing gears nothing helps.....not sure what to do

Is it an automatic? If it is, it sounds like you have a fried transmission.

A bit more history about this Aveo might help. Had the acceleration/power been good until just recently? If so, did performance get noticably worse from one day to the next? Any other recent work done, beyond what you already mentioned? Did the check engine light come on at any time? Have you taken it to be checked for codes? (there may be a pending code that hasn't set the CEL on yet).
How does the engine sound if you rev it way up multiple times when parked in neutral? Any hesitation/miss either when reving or at idle?

Yes it it all seemed ok until recently....my check engine light has been on for some time but never seemed that it affected cars performance.....haven't had any work on the car since November when the brakes were done....haven't taken it anywhere I'm too afraid to drive it now it was barely getting up hills yesterday....guess I haven't tried revving it while in neutral.....

Here is a thread that I posted about getting an ODBII scanner. ODB stands for on board diagnostics. When the check engine light comes on, it's hint to hook this bad boy into your car and get some real information. If you have a smart phone, then your halfway there. Like I said before, help your self first with good information so we can help you.

Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....
