Question 05 Aveo Won't Start. Fuel Pump Primes.

      05 AVEO
      164k Miles
      Auto Transmission

One morning I drove the car out of the driveway and the car was shaking real bad. It was the engine shaking violently. When I gave it gas, the engine stopped shaking, but the car wouldn't move forward. After a minute white smoke came from the front. The next day, it wouldn't start. Engine cranks.

The fuel pump primes. Relay and fuses are good.
      Battery tested good.
I replaced the plugs and wires, no change.

When I added starting fluid to the air intake, it MADE a change. The engine started shaking again like it did the day I had it running. But it wouldn't fully start...

Not sure of your technical ability here. So i will ask, does it sound like a faster than normal crank?
pull the cover off the passenger side of the engine and see if the belt is in tact.
This sounds almost like a busted timing belt to me. When was it last changed? I can't say though.

If it is not the timing belt. I would suggest verifying spark, you can just use a timing light. Also check the schrader on the fuel rail to see if you have pressure. Its like a tire valve stem, so if there is pressure it will squirt gas all over, use a rag. If there is pressure, make sure it returns after you bled it down, and make sure it stays (this is where a fuel pressure gauge is good but, just checking is a start). IF you have fuel pressure, and spark, check to see if the fuel injectors are working, they should click while the engine is trying to start/run. Just touch your finger to each one. If you did the spark plug wires, make sure they are in the right order. Also make sure the coil pack is good. (mist if with water while cranking, look for sparks, and stay back).

If it is trying to start with the spray, i would lean toward the fuel side of it.

revving an old thread for a new problem is not helpful. Please start a new one with specifics on your car and history.

Please do not power off, firmware update pending.....
