      05 Aveo Fuel Pump Problem

I have a 05 aveo that wil not start

I have checked all the fuses they are good.
switched the fuel relay under the hood with one just like it in the fuse box still nothing.
I have checked the pump, it primes about 2 seconds when the key is cut on
and that was what I was expecting it to do.

but it gets no power to any other wires when the ignition is cycled.
I thought the pump would get power from one of those other wires
      when the engine is cycled.
I know some pumps get power from the oil sender when the engine is cycled.

do the aveos get fire from the sender once the engine is cycled?

If not can anyone please tell me where do they get the power from?

or know of any reason why it would not be getting power?

      like another relay or something?

If the oil sender is bad would it make the car not start if the power feeds through it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. [-o<

the pump is not pumping after the initial priming when the key is first
      turned on.

Re: 05 Aveo Fuel Pump Problem

What happened prior to the car quitting to start? Anything unusual about the way the car drove before it quit?

on a side note, has the timing belt been replaced by the previous owner? It should've been done around 60k. Make sure it is, if not, I'd do it asap 'cause they snap sometimes and do some damage...

the only thing that was different was the oil light started to flicker.
the oil is full and has just been changed recently.

I Am getting no fuel when the engine is turned over.

Re: 05 Aveo Fuel Pump Problem

if the pump is priming it should have at least enough pressure to start the engine, but it wont stay running. Is it not starting at all? If it primes and fuel is your problem it would run for like 10-30 seconds on the prime pressure.

The pump is pretty quiet when its in run mode not prime. but it sounds like your testing it with a test light?

you said its getting no fuel when its turned over, Did you try spraying some starting fluid in it to verify that its not getting fuel? It will run on starting fluid for a few seconds. If that doesn't start it, then your problem is ignition.

Did you check your fuel pressure at the rail? If not buy a cheap fuel rail kit and see what it is.

The fuel pump relay is powered by the ECM, i cant find anything that says what will cut the signal but the oil pressure seems likely, or obvious. To see if the signal is coming out of the ecm, check wire 54. its yellow with a black line. If that does not have a signal. I would suspect the oil issue. If it does have a signal. then you are losing it between the ecu and relay. Check it at the relay as well

Re: 05 Aveo Fuel Pump Problem

I have been testing with a meter
and also pulled the fuel line and placed a hose
on the pump it only pumps when you turn the key on.

no fuel comes out after the initial prime.
      and it will not start.

it has had a code P0463 Fuel Level Sensor Circuit High Input
but has ran fine until the oil light came on ran fine with the oil light flickering
next morning it would not start.

Re: 05 Aveo Fuel Pump Problem

Well the prime and run circuit at separate. But the wiring it's common from the ecu out. I would need need a diagram to determine exactly what the computer uses to determine it's run function. I would think it would be oil pressure and a timing singal. But those signals are also used elsewhere so it's the ECM that splits the signal for the fuel pump relay.
