there really is not much you can easily get your hands on, but if your looking for power, then all that can do it either add a turbo and do a tranny swap (maybe skip the tranny if your not running to much boost) or build an N/A motor, I think you could reach some decent numbers with that but it will cost more parts wise
Wooowwww love your gauges! They are niiicceee! Love the LEDs (of course) do u kno how we can change the odometer to blue with the rest of the lights I hate that stand out green!!
Love it though! I'm so thinking about getting those too cept the barina on them.
dont you just put in a blue bulb, i pulled mine out when i had mine apart, not sure on the bulb size, its a very small one though
You can have them say anything you want. EVY is an option too. It could be any custom text under 10 characters I think. And the kit came with a white insert and blue bulb while the stock setup is green insert and white bulb (it's a delicate job cause you have to bend away the screen and replace the insert with a pair if tweezers and a blade to separate the glue). It came with a $39 dollar led upgrade kit (with SMD LEDs of course).
And hunter, even if you put a blue bulb in, it will still have a green hue until you take out the insert behind the screen.
thought there was some sort of film /screen, was not sure, i just took out my bulb and called it a day
so you have no back light on your odometer? :?Quote:

You still got the interior light dim switch, rear defrost switch, and air recycle switch... plus the big green clock... :DQuote:

nice
So even though that guy was sure he had it, when he got to the car to check for it - the cruise switch wasn't there. So, come monday, I'll have to go talk to the local dealer and ask them if they wanna price match rock auto or something...
The local dealer didn't want to price match anyone. $40 list price... plus tax. Talked to a buddy of mine who works at a collision repair shop... with their %25 discount he's getting me one from the same exact dealer for $28 plus tax... Said it will take about a week to get here from Michigan though...
Received the switch. Installed it:

thats about exactly how i was going to install mine, but more flush..
any pictures of the mounting process?
This is from the post above yours. I didn't want to go flush because it would be a bit harder to reach. Plus I'd have nothing to put the screws into.Quote:

Thank you!.. I'm thinking about putting something around the edge so it looks like it belongs. Some sort of seal.. not sure what though. Will have to figure something out.Quote:

Black Cat Custom website. $85 for the gauge faces and $39 for LED upgrade kit. The bulbs are regular SMD bulbs, but it does come with a piece to make odometer blueQuote:

I've also installed the entire A/C system that I've bought from one guy who's aveo got totaled by a drunk driver. I got all the pieces except for the A/C panel, his had tabs broken off and cracked in a spot or two, and the A/C condenser (his got a little bent by the same accident). I paid $350 for the compressor, all the lines, evaporator, fan, panel (even though I didn't use the last three, but I have them for spare parts). $40 for the panel from a junk yard (mind, all the parts were out of the car and waiting for me at both that guy's place and the junk yard). A/C condenser was around $75 brand new shipped from eBay.... I was considering installing it myself, but ended up going back to that guy and he installed everything (except for the HVAC panel, I already put that in with LEDs and stuff to match the rest of the interior). He agreed to do it for $160. After I charged it, I found a small leak right where the two lines connect to the back of the compressor, but figured out that it's just one of the guiding lines (or it's lip) was a little crushed, so I filed it down and put it together... but as I did that and serviced it, it worked fine... until I took off the filler hose, the filler valve started pissing freon... capping it off helped, but it was still pissing very loud, so I bought some replacement filler valve parts and some more freon with a super-leak stop that seals off aluminum and all that good stuff and called it a day last night....
Picked up some UV dye too, so I'll be doing that today.
I better get it done, I'm starting school tomorrow...
Theplastic cap on the a/c isn't what stops the freon. It's a check valve,so that would be like the cap on your valve stem keeping the air in you tire. But with more pressure.
If you need another line I have a set.
I just replaced the valve stem and that fixed that leak... the two lines coming up to the back of the compressor don't leak any more either... But now there's a pretty big leak bubbling out around where the two lines connect to the evaporator at the firewall.
How much do you want for the lines shipped, rabbit? And (a dumb question) they are for the first gen, right?
AWESOME. Thank you for the updates. I love how you are answering all of the questions I have had over the last few months, and I have not had to ask.
Thank you
Jason
 glad I could help, XJ Casper. I drive past you every day twice on the way to Lacey for training.
As far as the leak goes at the evaporator, between tightened nut that holds them in and a can of super seal I put in there last night, the leak seems to be fixed, thank God. I'll check it in a while to see if there are no more leaks in a while, but so far it held 30 psi overnight with no problems and it blows cold air. :D 8)
I have Sunday/Monday off for the time, if you are not too tired, we would love to check out your ride.
So just a little update.
I've been very busy with school, only get 1-1.5 hours at home every day except for weekends so no time to do almost anything but drive it for 135-140 miles a day roundtrip.
The last couple of things that I've done were to replace the motor mounts (left and right, still didn't do the dog bone, but I have it filled in). The noise that I was fixing by replacing the motor mounts was fixed before I put them in - it was coming from the intake pipe vibrating against the strut firewall.... But since I already had the new mounts and the polyurethane - I went ahead and filled them anyways...
Also I've replaced the a/c line that goes from the evaporator to the condenser and partially to the compressor (old one was prone to cracking because the way the guy installed it it was rubbing against one of the pulleys for a little). So I got a new one, but the updated part number that they sold me for 50 more (doubled the price) leaked at one of the joints that was supposed to be pressed in well (between the aluminum line and aluminum flange on the fatter pipe) so they got me a replacement line for free (I had to buy it since I wasn't turning in the old one right away, but they're giving me my money back when I bring the old one back)... should be installing that today. So hopefully I'll have a fully functional a/c here in a little bit.
Wish me luck... that's about it. :D
lame
Hello, Serega. Yours is the second example I've seen with what looks like the original front ts lens filled in. Are those new panels that replace the original lens covers or are they the originals simply painted? If they are new pieces where do you get them? Thanks.
Steve
Hey Serega, i was wondering where you got the LED lights for the dashboard, speedometer, rpm gauge..
You could paint them yourself, just look up "joey mod" on this forum, you should find many examples. They say it's a good idea to have a spare set just in case you mess yours up, but if you're gonna buy another set, might as well buy the ones I did (mine came "pre-painted", or actually I'm pretty sure they just assembled it before chroming the housing). They're already blacked out and cost less (I got mine off of ebay for $142 plush shipping).Quote:

So I got back to installing the new line, but as I started pulling out the old line (I started from the connection that was leaking bad), I noticed that it didn't have the seal on it (duh!)... They said it was supposed to come with one. I'm not sure if they lost it, if I lost it, or if it slipped off during installation... Either way, I replaced that O-ring and it held vacuum for like 10 minutes with no issues... So I serviced it and off I went!
I had A/C!!!.... for the whole mile I drove home from my dad's place. Then I decided to install a couple of HELLA horns that I pulled off a 528 BMW earlier at a junk yard (in addition to the aftermarket deeper sounding horn I picked up earlier in the year from Autozone).
Everything went well, I made up some wiring to connect it all together, and I used the longer bolts that came off of BMW... bad idea if you have an AC condenser in your car... As I was tightening it, it slowly pressed a small hole in the condenser and pissed out all freon gas within around 20 minutes or so....
So now I'm without AC again until my new condenser comes in.
I've thought about getting it repaired, but everyone I talked to said it's a lot of pain, and I'm better off just installing a new one. So once that comes in (hopefully sometime this coming week) I should be installing it.
fail
Man... never get time to post these days with the welder training. (gives you all time to catch up on post counts ;)). Get up at 4:30 in the morning, leave the house by 4:50 or so... class from 7 am to 9 am (roughly 70 miles away one way), then welding from 9 am to 5:30 pm. Home by around 7 pm.... Only have a couple of hours before I gotta go back to bed... and then all over again for 4 more days in a week. Never time to do anything, so everything piles up for the weekend. So no time to post either...
Anyways, got some "WINTER WHEELS", which are just 14" alloy Aveo wheels with Hankook tires (about 80-90% thread left) for $150, not too bad of a deal, plus they're cheaper to replace with all the driving. Also, I heard that narrower tires are better in rain (my rims have 205/40/17's on them, and these "winter rims" have the stock 185/60/14's on them).
Might even upload a picture one day.
quite a fall from posting 20 times a day...
You're right. It is. Barely get any time to check new posts here...
Something I forgot to post last time, I installed some Black Altezza style tail lights with some tower style SMD LEDs in them... It's an improvement over all-LED tail lights I had before IMO because of looks (flat black matches the flat black in headlights) and because I can replace the bulbs if they get burned out without having to bake apart the tail light assembly and solder or do whatever else is needed to replace the burnt out/flickering/faded LEDs
