I told them about that problem too, I called it "shadowing", where if you align the middle up perfectly, both sides are too far out, creating a look of a "shadow"... if you align one side, the other one is way off... And there's nothing you can do about it. If it was too narrow, you could try stretching the vinyl out or something, but not when it comes too wide to begin with. Both sets they sent me... not much to do with "customer error" there... plus they say they install "like 10 silver overlays a week with no issues whatsoever".Quote:

The only things I've done to the inside (that ate visible) are sony deck, holden badge on the steering wheel, holden barina polished door steps, all blue LED gauge and hvac lighting, cool white LED overhead and cargo lights, the overlays (soon to be replaced with black cat gauges), and the 20% tint all around.Quote:

BLUE LEDS ALL THE WAY WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :D =D> =D>
The best satisfaction in driving a custom car is the comments like I overheard it (more like read the lips, it was loud)... "what kind of car is that?... I don't know"... and then a minute or two of puzzled staring... 8)
Its nice to see somebody else found a cf hood too.
People keep asking if it's vinyl cf, but when they see the raised paint, feel the weight, and see that the bottom side is also cf, they change their mind.Quote:

ill have to hunt one down from that one place to fix my hood, i do wonder if ill need to put any coats on it due to being in Florida
Same here. I'm doing that too with the stick. Another thing I have not done is drill holes for window washing system, I had to run longer lines for fluid and hunt down some spray nozzles that go onto the wipers.Quote:

I miss m aveo sometimes. I put alot of work into it and had plans to make more custom pieces. I also miss my dsm too, but that's ol cus that was a constant project.
So here are some pictures taken recently... The pictures are pretty good quality even when they're downsized, so now you can see the imperfections in the alignment between the CF hood and fiberglass fenders/bumpers and stuff.. They warned me that fiberglass body kits are not perfect, but I'm ok with some imperfections to make my ride unique. ....might take a while to load since there are many of them, but enjoy... 8) Any comments welcome.

your still pretty high off the ground, even with the body kit, did it stop the same height as the factory bumper in front? i thought they went "deeper"
Thank you.Quote:

It barely clears it (sometimes it doesn't when I take it too fast or if someone else is in the car).... Can't go any lower until I move. But that would mean that I'm back at work, so then I would be looking into coilovers.Quote:

SPAM!!!! Admins, could you please take care of that guy? :blackeye:
Edit: thank you, no more spammer... 8)
lots of hard work put into your ride, I wouldn't be able to sell her.
I may not have to, LarsBud, if I get approved for the VIP (Veterans in Piping) Accelerated Welder Training Program... It's free for me 'cause I'm a veteran with an expeditionary medal (so you would qualify for that too :D). If I get a job through them, I'll be keeping her. It's pretty hard to sell a modified ride, so there's a high chance I won't be able to sell it before I get into the training, God willing.Quote:

Some places and connections were hard to see so phone pictures with flash helped a bit. Here are some pics I took along the way:

The shifter throw is shorter and there is no more slop in the shifter.
Very nice. I think you have less room top side because I don't have a coil pack.
So no more pin stripe... and no more vinyls except for on the windows... I like it better like that. I've always liked clean cars better, but thought I'd give it a try. It didn't look bad, but I like it a lot more...
I'm sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, they're taken with a phone camera, which will never be as good as a nice DSLR camera (that's what many other pics are taken with in this thread)...

P.S. If I was to ever re-do the stripe, it would be silver and black, not white and black, and it would be painted on.... But for now I'm keeping it clean...
Is that an official "BARINA" badge on the back? I was going to make one myself using Vauxhall badges but I can't find a "B"! If it's a genuine one where did you find it?
I got mine from Exotic Emblems site here: http://www.exoticemblems.com/eeshop/ind ... Path=58_91 Their price is a bit steep IMO and international shipping took a while and their site's certificate popped as expired every time I logged in, but they got me my Barina lettering in a nice genuine GM part # on the bag. And of course I tried to call the local dealer to see if they can get it, but no luck. It comes with a neat insert so you can't mess up spacing between the letters, I think I have some pictures in this thread.
im with you on the clean car bit.. not a fan of loads of vinyls n stickers.. sometimes looks ok depending on the car and style its done..
theres loooaaadds of guys around my area who have got like stickers alllll over their car like from top to bottom you can barly see any paint :S looll...
personal prefrnc i guess...
lookin nice btw :)
I know what you mean... and a lot of them have nothing to show for the stickers that they have on their cars... my favorite one is a focus sedan I see often when I visit my friend's apartment complex that has an oversized spoiler wing, many different stickers from Eurolite to NOS, while still riding around with stock hubcaps and at a stock ride height... Highly doubt he's got any of that stuff in there...
Even though I had stuff to show for the vinyls that I had on - I just like the clean car look better. I was even considering taking off the vinyls on the windows, but decided against it for now...
ahhh.. would be funny if he did have all that stuff in there tho LOOLL NOW THAT WOULD BE A SHOCK CAR.. ive come across a few actually like that.. lol there was this clip i seen on utube.. some guy just left all outside stock even left the 1.4 badge on his civic..
under the hood had something like a 2ltr turbo setup LOLL pisssd all over loads of people for a laugh..
down here there these vauxhall novas that you would not even expect anything from.. some of them even out xlerate GTR r34 skylines, supras the lot.. untill they get to about 100ish then the skyline wizzes past LOL but still... on a 0-60 they have them up..
one of my high school mates had a nova didnt look 2 bad either.. done LOAAADS to his engine was hitin 0-60mph in about 5 seconds
Looks really good that way. =D> =D>
Without the pin stripes, it looks cleaner. I like it with and without pin stripes :D

The install went pretty smooth, it's calibrating the speedo after I was done that took the longest time. First it was reading about 14 mph above the actual speed. tried a few different things. taking out the post and setting the "zero" (or resting) position of the speedometer arrow helped... adjusted it back and forth a little bit and got it to read the exact speed according to my tom-tom (that I also tested yesterday in my HHR and against the police radar boxes for accuracy) and it reads right at all the speeds, both at 35 mph and 60 mph, so I'm hapy with it.
looks good, calibrating them is difficult though, i have my computer so it helps, i sit there and put the needles on while im driving #-o but ive got them dead on now, i still like my GM style though, i need to get some pices soon anyways
Thank you, I like the way it looks way better than stock ones and bubbly overlays. :D
and you're right, calibrating them sucks, I did take notice of what the difference is in speed, then took the needless of and moved it accordingly. If you take the stopper out and let the needle drop below zero. Then move it by the distance equal to the difference in speed.
one strange thing is trying to get the first 10mph right, i would put in the needle, stop, and i would be going 20mph with the needle saying 10mph, it is weird at first, but i have gotten used to doing it (the needle fell off at one point as i was driving lol)....i just got to put that other bulb in
Looks hot. Awesome
Thanks XJCasper. So what's going on with the header? Still no time for that?
It's on. The O2 adapter is not and I have a engine light. My attention has diverted to repairs and work on the Jeep and the purchase of a Pop-up Camper.
Just fixed some U-Joints and now gonna work on the A/C. Waiting for some armor to come back from the powder coater.
Nice. How do you like the new sound? And how do you like the power gain? 8)
