      Re: Towing with an Aveo

Thats crazy! Nothing like tearing the rear of the car off! Could you imagine the trailer sway that would create?!!

      A very helpful topic!

I am about to do the wiring with the Curt 56092, Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring for Chevrolet Aveo 2011 - C56092 , however in Australia the trailers have 5 wires, the "T" is 5-in-5-out, the "box" is 5 in-4-out, the turn indicators and brake lights use a common red lamp. Here we use a separate yellow for indicators. I do like the flat 4 pin plug and the flat cable arrangement!

No problems with the 4 wire system, just use the Curt 4 wire harness and US led lamps!

I tow a large camper with my Aveo, some bikers at a local camp got a quick video of me and sent it my way...

This is just before I upgraded the muffler wires..

I tow with my '10 Aveo5. I deliver pianos and organs and other large stuff like that. I was scared to death at first when I got my hitch installed but it drives great. Mine is a 5 speed...
I just ordered a ride rite air bag kit for the rear springs also just to stabilize everything...

So...what's the most that anyone has towed with their Aveo for any reasonable distance?

I'm considering putting a class 1 hitch on ours and trying it with our 2 Jetskis. I expect flats will be decent with the engine locked in third gear (it'd be hopeless in OD and would probably overheat the tranny) but I wonder how it'd fare on ANY kind of grades.

The trailer with both skis on it would be around 2K.

Not looking to go any massive distance with it, at furthest probably an hour or two in any direction. I just hate taking my huge 1-Ton diesel to tow the skis around as it's a massive overkill for 2000 lbs, not to mention a fuel pig.

Towing is not recommended with the Aveo and I think max towing capacity is 800lbs. I'm not 100% on that.
I leased Pontiac Wave from September 2006 to August 2011.
