Sorry to burst your bubble... The position of the world's economy is partly to be blamed on the 'States. The recession started a few years ago actually. Economists were already crying for help, but creditors just wouldn't listen. Let's hope "sub-prime" loans and mortgages are a thing of the past. These things were only happening in the USA, hence why Americans are being blamed for the crisis. It's a tough pill to swallow.
On another note. YAY! The elections are over. I couldn't live another day hearing about the elections. You Americans take too ****ing long. We had time to call an election and have it here in Canada over just a couple months.

i agree with you on both facts.
the primaries do not need to be twice as long as the actual election. i was tired of the issues before they even got through the primaries. and then the issues are all "different" through the election (thank god there was an economic crisis so they had something else to talk about)
And it was not only sub prime mortgages and such. the houses being built were given a declared value. even though they had no true assessed value. in pennsylvania when the government came through about 2 years ago to figure out the house values for taxes many people with new homes paid more to build than the house was actually worth. it also didnt help when the houses had almost $10000 in appliances added to the mortgage that is not part of the "value" of the home.
another problem was ever since the market peaked 1000 points for the first time in 1995. people have been living beyond their means and raking up huge credit card debt. the problem is creditors who have to repossess these items found that they do not hold their value. so they had to settle for pennies on the dollar. plus it became possible a few years ago to get financing and credit card for plastic surgery. i think the story said like 20 million of it a year is financed, and like 15 million ends up not paind in full. and you cant repossess double Ds..
