lol who would spend over 25k for this thing?
Me and my wife saw the commercial for this car/crossover/wagon/whatever they wanna call it last night. IMO its not the car for me and I wouldn't buy it. But, the engine is impressive. 190hp out of a 1.6L is nothing to sneeze at. And, its surprisingly not THAT heavy at ~3000 lbs.
Edit: It starts at $19k.
That's the engine for the new Nissan Juke, which I think is uglier than a troll. I have always loved Nissan for their engineering and I love that engine, but the Nissan Joke is the only thing it's offered in.
I am starting to like the Juke. My wife even said she would consider it.
Remember when the Murnao was in prototype, it looked awesome. Then they focused grouped all the cool out of it and added a lipstick holder. At least the Juke has some fun left in it.
And any 4cyl turbo makes me happy especially if AWD is in the equation.
I like the engine of the Juke. That's it though. And if you want a turbo 4 pot with AWD, buy an Evo or an Impreza.
I agree with ya there. Evo all the way! best family car I could think of.
Well I did say family car. 4 door, plenty or room, awd, safe, and fast.
But you had my attention with R32.
i had the 04 r32, manual > automatic.
not really family friendly, but then again, an audi can be had in awd and 2.0t id buy one of those before before an evo or impreza as a family car, because the evo is like a cobalt ss, economy car with an expensive drivetrain, the evo is better built though than a cobalt. and subaru isnt bad but the back seat is small for car seats.. hell the new car seats make all the back seats seem small.
Well I like the Evo drivetrain and the new Evo's are huge! Audi never did it for me. Hopped econo car does not really describe the new one very well anymore.
And as far as cobalt goes...there were thousands to choose from and I bought an Aveo. I hope GM is listening.
ive taken the DSG transmissions apart, if they could make it shift how i want them to, then i would keep it, but i hate the way the car down shifts. Besides that, if it has a Drive position, its an automatic.
3 pedal> 2 pedals regardless of shifter.
have you driven one? in theory it is better all around yes, but there is something about it in real life that hard to explain, like when you down shift to pass or accelerate, the rpm match isnt like an actual manual car, its hard to explain, its like the computer is preset to slow you down first, then you can accelerate.
i also autocrossed a vw dsg in the summer of 06, even though the shift is the same speed, the car was consistently faster in auto than with me shifting it manually, of the 5 of us running the car, only one of use could improve the times shifting themselves. mostly for the same reason, downshifting seems to slow the car instead of acceleration.. (but like i said, its not just "that" as an explanation, its a weird driving sensation and not one i would want to get used to).
I'm sure to get one my wife loves it?? get one for her that is. starts at $18,960
That R32 is really nice but at around 35k I would want a lot more SHOW! The Evo and WRX are way more fun and corky, the VW is a bit too conservative for me to spend that much on it. At 20k I would consider it, at 35k I would laugh! Yeah, I'm a cheap bastard...The juke is ugly but at least different than the average small SUV, sometimes the uglier/corkier the car the more appealing it is, Nissan builds great cars and they are always willing to deal, but on brand new models they may play hardball but so can u! U should also remember that sometimes it takes a couple of years for the company to get all the bugs out of new models, so buying it may mean dealing with some recalls down the road. Still, I'm a sucker for round headlights! Test drive it and go from there...
I like the R32 for it's understated looks, AWD and V6 sound that can't be beaten by a 4 pot turbo. and that price was brand new. They're now about 20 grand used. I love that it looks like a normal Rabbit. They justifies the price in that the R32 was only offered 1 year, 2008 and only 5000 models were made for the US market. Limited editions and production does drive the price up for it's collectability.
Don't get me wrong, the car has ton of features and is totally worth the money, It may be in a class of its own with the AWD and the V6 in a hatchback configuration. I, however like 'BLING' and the VW is lacking that... Most people dont even know that car exists. Thats why I would take a Viper over a ZR1 anytime, even tho the Vette is a way better car it has no bling, it blends in too much, I don't remember the last time I turned around to look at a Vette, but I can tell u that anytime theres a Viper around people are all over it, even today after its been in the market for a few years. U can tell I'm a big Viper fan! The R32 low production numbers means it is a hot comodity today and will be even more as time goes by and it becames even harder to find.
I like sleepers plain and simple. That's why I love the W-body so much, it's why I have a soft spot for the Aveo and it's why I love the R32. I do like SOME style which is why I prefer the 2008 R32 to the 2004 one. Had I the money, I'd snatch up an '08 R32 in a heartbeat. It's one of the few imports that has my respect.
starts at 19k for the low down model, with FF and no turbo
I would try to get a deal on the turbo model, u will have better resale vaue on it, than again, its a SUV, I mean how fast u really wan to go on a SUV...(hello rollover!)
I got u... I wonder sometimes if its worth to fix the Aveo up since its such a plain Jane, however, it was cheap to buy, parts are cheap, its different than ur run of the mill Civic and its a nice car overall. I figure I can have this thing decked out with about $2000, that includes everything I like to have on it, including a turbo(unless I upgrade to a bigger engine), thats a lot cheaper than buing something else like a Evo, it would not be as good as a Evo but a lot less expensive too.
the vw tiguan is an suv that comes in a 4 cylinder turbo as well, although in the manual i dont think it comes with awd...
(its another one of those "us gets the shaft" deals like the 3 door aveo, etc)
although i think the awd turbo version comes in dsg, that would make z34 happy.
why is this in the How To section? not the place for the thread
According to Nissan's site they all come with the same engine. AWD is optional for all trim levels. However, the 6spd manual is only available on the two higher models as an option.
