      Dynamat Install

      Hello Everybody,
I have just about covered every sensible location with Dynamat and here's a brief walk though.

I'll start with the hatch. Nothing hard at all about this one. There are two bolts that need to be removed from the front of the back seats. Pull the tabs on the back and out comes the seat. Lift up the carpet and take out the tire. The carpet on the side can be pulled back or taken off, I pulled it back.

Tip: Precut a couple sheets of the dynamat into strips to make it easier to work with.

Now onto the floor panels. Each of the front seats has four bolts and two wire connections holding it in place. Next remove the trim panels starting with the door sills and then the seat belt cover. You can remove the center console, but I didn't have much luck here so I lifted the carpet and layed the mat with my other hand.

Tip: Remember where your hardware mounts. I used a marker to make circles where the bolts/etc. were mounted.

Replace the floor mat and bolt everything back down.

The fun continues with the door panels. They are super easy to remove. Just a few screws along the bottom, at the door handle and the door lever. The rest is clipped into place. After removing the screws place your hands on each side of the panel, towards the bottom and lift. Work your way up. The door panel comes right out.

Remove the plastic weather guard and mark you mounting points.
Tip: Use Goof Off to remove the adhesive and not stretch the plastic.

Using the weather guard as a template, make 3 sections.

Tip: Don't split the sections where there will be a hole in the door.

For better audio response put a square of dynamat behind the speakers. There are only 3 screws holding the speaker in place.

      Replace all hardware.

Add mat to where ever you'd like. The more surface covered the better.

I also took the dealer shroud off my license plates and added mat to the back.

I was thinking about doing this....

Was it worth the money, and how much did it quiet the car?

      great how-to!

      My Review:
Freakin Awesome! I have the benefit of before and after by comparing to a 2006 SVM Aveo. The road noise is cut down a lot. Kinda like driving on fresh asphalt as opposed to concrete. It took about 2 cases but I bought 3 cases of Dynamat Xtreme Bulk Pack (36 ft^2 ea). The stock speakers sound way better now that they aren't fighting noise. I only wish I had the resources to take out the dash and mat the firewall because I still get engine noise especially from the CAI.

The cases are 22 pounds each. I used about two, so 44 pounds spread though out the car. It's not noticeable since I emptied my trunk.
