ac problem...wont switch to blow on face

ok so last summer i spilled a 32 oz orange soda down my dash... needless to say i had to get a new radio, while it was being replaced i took out the ac control panel and cleaned all the goo out of it, since then the ac wont switch to blow on my face from the mail two vents up top. oh i have an 06 sedan. i tried searching the problem but didnt find anything. what do you suggest i do? im hopeing there are some parts undr the dash i can remove and dunk in some sopy water and put back in. this is by far the last problem im going to need help fixing, but its my top priority today because its getting hott out there!!!
thanks! i didnt know what i was going to do before i found this site!

i dont think its the controls, all the other setting work, and if you leave it on face for a few days eventually air will come out. but if you turn it up to 4 the vents "close?" again, or if you turn the dial to a different setting like defrost or feet, and then try to switch back, you have the same problem as before, no air. i may be wrong but when i took out the controls to clean it, all the parts seemed to be mechanical (except some lights), a cable hooked to a piece that ran a long a track with teeth that moved when you switched the knob to the different settings. soda wouldnt break that unless it was sticky, and its allready been cleaned. im pretty sure the problem is something sticky up under the dash. near the clock perhaps, that also was doused in soda. if someone could tell me how to get in there, or point me to a thread, im pretty sure i would find something...
