The things you will need are
      1. Pliers
      2. Gloves (optional)

      pliers like these

Please make sure that your engine is cold I had to wait untill the next morning to do it because i live in SoCal where it is110 outside and cars dont tend to cool down in 3 hours.

Get your pliers and loosen the clamps holding the hoses but dont pull it off. Make sure you pull out this circled one first so coolant doesnt spill all over you, you will hear a small regurgitating noise when you pull this one off.

Now loosen off this clamp and take it off.

Now you should have a piece of hose.

Loosen the clamp and pull off the other one.

Now reroute the hose through the space under the intake.

And connect it to where the other hose was. MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE CLAMP BACK ON TO PREVENT LEAKS!!!

now get the other piece of hose and stick it on in a loop ontop of the TB. Just tighten one clamp on the hose and leave the other clamp in the middle of the hose or you wont be able to bend it into a loop

now it should be like this. Start up your car and make sure there arent any coolant leaks. Enjoy![/img]

it doesnt do anything really, it was mostly placebo, the theory is that if the coolant is not running through the tb the air wont get hot, i found out that it gets hot anyway and the air is rushing too fast to get heated up anyways.

maybe the point is to give you something to do when you get bored considering you only need pliers. i dunno, it looks like one of those thing that are best left alone.
You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

      Re: 06 AVEO TB BYPASS

It's supposed to heat the TB to prevent freezing of the butterfly, but after 2 Montreal winters with it bypassed, I've had no freezing issues whatsoever. I personally think it's for more of an emissions thing... a lot of cars have that, including my Elantra, which has also been bypassed, for 4 montreal winters with no freezing either.

      Re: 06 AVEO TB BYPASS

I know that on my Buick Grand National I have alcohol injection to cool down the air charge going through the throttle body and into the turbo charger. This is because my GN is a non intercooled car. What about something like that for the Aveos. Would it hypothetically work without a turbo?

      Re: 06 AVEO TB BYPASS

^^ uhh, turbos go before the TB. I think you have your order mixed up. Compression from the turbo, alcohol injection to cool and then to the TB makes sense, but can be done with both intercooled and non-intercooled.
It'll be pretty much useless on a NA car.

      Re: 06 AVEO TB BYPASS

mtlswift, thanks, yeah i did get that backwards. duh! but i still dont understand the purpose of this posted modification. after reading it, and everyones comments, it still seems like "what to do with some plyers and a rubber hose if your bored and have nothing else to do"
i'm not trying to be judgmental about the post, but more so trying to understand the value of it.

It's like a phenolic spacer... you're cooling (or preventing the heating up of) whatever surface the air passes through while entering the engine. Cooler air = more dense air = more air = more power.
You don't "gain" any power from it, but prevent the loss of power when the engine is warmed up.
