What type of brake fluid is needed ??

Did I read it right online....that my 2006 Aveo needs 'Dot 4 ESP' brake fluid? ESP? Thats synthetic fluid...right? But is it silicone fluid?

I need to find my owners manual, and double check, but I saw this online and thought I'd ask in here,...is this true? Is my...our little Aveos using this 'special' fluid in the brake system ?

I wanted to switch over to silicone fluid when I get it totally flushed out, I always heard it is a much higher quality fluid, but you need to get just about every drop of the 'plain' type out of your brake system first, it cant be mixed, if it uses the plain type originally. Is that right?

According to this it's DOT-3.

DOT-3 and DOT-4 are compatible. DOT-5 is not.
