      Tightening suspension

First off, new here and very grateful to have finally found a seemingly active forum for tuning aveos. I've wanted to make mine more fun to drive since I got it. Been having a hell of a time finding parts though.

      Down to business.

I read a thread pointing to the Ultra Racing Strut/Sway bars on ThrowdownPerformance.com and wanted to know if they would fit my 07. I don't know how much variation there is between model years. (my intuition say not much)

Also if anyone has any useful links for parts I'd be grateful if you could post them or PM me with them.

As far as the mounting points for strut bars/braces - they're all the same on all years/models. As far as links for parts - it depends on what you're actually looking for. If you search the forum for specific stuff (i.e. cold air intake, body kit, hood, spoiler, HIDs), you can find the links to where they're sold. A good place to start is the "Products" section of the forum. And welcome to the site.

i would start out with a CAI and then some rims/tires, then possibly a set of springs, that will make a big difference, welcome lol

Springs make a bigger difference than tires in general driving, even the crappy oem tires take some abuse before breaking loose.

Stiffening the suspension usually goes in this order:

      springs<shocks<tires<swaybars<braces

you can eliminate the first two at once with coilovers.

      Re: Tightening suspension

im looking at springs ,,so far i think H&r are the best bet they give enough drop to help but not enough to jar you around ,,i actually talked to h&r tech and they say they are designed to work with factory shocks.but we all know daewoo shocks are awful i cant afford new ones now .figured id install h&r and go from there.
i may try to use an 18" wheel combo,,after seeing that dudes kalos on here . it looked so sweet
i wish there was more wheel choices,id love to use a weld brand roilite wheel
but cant find no one top redrill it. ive beeged weld they wont drill em n 4x100mm
another sharp looking wheel is the empi vw wheel ,,same story though i cant get em inm a 4x100
a wheel the offset is perfect on is an 05-09 mustang wheel
      but same story
im almost tempted to run adapters. but the inch and a quarter they would stik wheels out wont due
we will see ,,the wgheel choice has to b right ,to have a rad car in myu book
i just put on my spoiler tonight its sweet i ended up using the 09/10 style one on my 2010
it turned out perfect and was just 110 painted cleared and shipped
i drilled decklid where factory spots are lol one hole was off qrtr inch off i just kept creeping each side mm at a time
...next is h&r and and some shoes
all my work gang is givn me a tuff time about replacn gt
all they know is i replaced it with an important
lol those honda dudes are gonna rib me hard
but next spring when i retire 06 ill have my mods done and a lil shot of funny gas
      im getting excited

      Re: Tightening suspension

There are alot of wheel sitions out there and redrilling and such is possibly if the wheel permits.

The empi 8 is only 6 "'wide though I think. Too narrow of a rim for the size.

      Re: Tightening suspension

ok lol i just piked up a set of wheels they are kinda what ive been after
im gonna hav to run a small spacer im sure because these are orginally for a scion with a 25mm offset
but at 230.00 shippd i had to hav em
now im thinking a 205/40/17 tire will keep speedo close and allow for h&r drop
      what do u think
(and yes ive searched the sizing forum and i sure know less tire means more rim and vice versa )
but theres no susbtitute for someone who has been there
so what do u all think
i should run for a tire size with h/r springs

      the wheel dimensions are 17 x 7.5
      im gettng mags im stoked
they hav been bumpd around just a lil from storage
ill clean and polish em bright ,,so far ive got the cd player nstalled spoiler is done
now i need h/r's ,,tires ,,ac underhood parts
      and tint
and the GIMME 5 badging installd ,,lol yes i had some made its funky
and project gimme 5 is done ,,im gaining
      i love ebay

      Re: Tightening suspension

So I've decided I'm gonna get the H&R springs. Great thing is I just found out I can get them through my job pretty much at cost! Gonna take me some time to save the money though.

BTW, speaking of wheels, does anybody know what the offset should be?

I'm running H&R springs, MSR 17x7.5 wheels with 205/40/17s... No issues to report. No rubbing or anything.
