y2daniel1981, my biggest apologies. the lower control arm was ordered from my local chevy dealership and cost $83.00, and installed by mallory kotzen tire which is a ny/ct tire store. i would be happy to send you that receipt. on gmpartsdirect.com the lower control arm for the left side is priced at $50.60, the right side lower control arm is $62.23. not sure of the difference in price. i say maybe order it and let the local mechanic install it. sorry for the confusion, totally my fault.

      Re: bad lower control arm

i know that recently i just had my 02 suburban dealer serviced and the labor rate was $98.00/hr at the chevy dealership. i needed to take my truck back to chevy for some warranty work under my extended warranty and some stuff was covered and some stuff was not covered.

I have the same noise on my 06 and was told by a local tire chain that they would charge almost $500 to replace just ONE control arm and do an alignment. That is robbery as far as i'm concerned and i'm having someone else put in both control arms (bushings and all) for $140. The parts cost just $70 for both arms, so it will cost me about $250-$290 for both control arms and alignment. I can live with that since I don't have any tools right now.
