      bad lower control arm

hey all, just putting this out there for interests sake. had my yearly inpsection done on my 04 sedan. bushings in left lower control were bad and apparently i had been driving it around for a while and did not notice it. the tech said it was fairly loose and he did not understand how i could have missed it. car still tracked straight, did not pull either way, and only once in a while did i hear a slight clunk, but never really paid much attention to it. i read somewhere that lower control arms were a common repair in the early aveos. it was $83.00 from the dealership. anybody heard about this before?

That's a new one for me. Usually you feel something more, a slight wobble, a pull, something. May be something for some of the older aveo owners to take a look at.
A small repair ($83 is a small repair), could save from having costly repairs, and possible dammage on the front end, and possible wreck. Thanks for the heads up.

I bet that is one of the things wrong with my aveo, I'll have to have that looked at real soon

The lower control arm was somewhat of a problem for my 04, I guess because its summer I don't hear the creaking noise but during winter its loud and the dealership said something about lower control arm bushing to stop the noise.

you know i hear a "thu-thu-thu-thu-thu" noise when i drive my aveo. its quite loud and more prominent when im turning right slightly. could this be the problem? cus shoot, for 83$ ill change mine out if thats the prob. i thought it was maybe an out of balance tire so i put a dif. one on it and it still makes the noise. sorry for the hijack nychevoo!
You can not commit crimes in a Aveo. Its just not fast enough.

$83 for the part, or is that parts and labor? Because I called my local stealership and they said it'd be like $312 to change it out

Hey this may seem kind of wierd, but can you email me a copy of your receipt from your visit? I want to use it as leverage to any dealership that may want to overcharge me around here. The chevy dealership here in town wants to charge me $362 to do the drivers side (I made sure that was for 1 and not both sides)
