      Re: were to put 6x9s

its an exile 600.4 that my futureshop buddy got me, 75x4 at 4 ohms, 150x4 at 2 ohms, 300x2 at 4 ohms (all watts rms), so it will be 75 watts rms to the each rear speaker caz they are 4 ohms, and 150 watts rms to the fronts when i get em so im looking for 2 ohm ones, thank you for your list, but i will only go with something brand name such as mtx, rockford, JL or kicker. had some bad expriences with noname brands. they might be great but im not willing to take the risk.

the way i want to have it set up is i want to be able to go with out a sub and still get good bass, and put my 10" mtx sledgehammer in a big ported box in on week ends or when i want to show off.

The list that I gave you are the upper end brands that are used for sound quality competitions and their clarity read below.
      November 2007
Hybrid Audio Technologies-equipped vehicles win two more World Championships, one in USACi and one in MECA, making the total championship count for 2007 at seventeen around the globe, showing once again the Hybrid Audio Technologies Legatia™-series product is the brand of choice for sound quality championships.
      From the Exile Website:
      X600.4
      Into 4 ohm Stereo 75 x 4
      Into 2 ohm Stereo 150 x 4
      Into 4 ohm Bridged 300 x 2
      Onboard Fuse Size: 25 amp x 2
Power Wire Fuse Size: 50 amp
      Power/Ground Wire Size: 8 Gauge ( Front Channels Stereo/
      Rear Channels Bridged or Stereo).
4 Gauge ( Front and Rear Channels
      Bridged).
      Dimensions: 16.25”L x 11.125”W x 2.625”H
From the exile audio website, the 600.4 is a Class A/B amp which means that at most you are looking at 70% efficiency.

      50V*14.4V*.7= 504Watts max 504/4=126Watts max

Their are two limiting factors with the amplifier, power supply(constant voltage), fuses(50amp), lets assume that the numbers on the spec sheet are rms wattage you would need the following:

      50A *17.1V*.7= 600Watts max 600/4=150 Watts max

17.1V would fry your cars' computer, I think the numbers shown on the spec sheet are max wattages not RMS. So honestly I have no I no idea how to calculate what you will really be getting from this amplifier based on the spec sheet. I can only approximate with a 70% efficiency and that is even generous. Just a heads up!!! my $0.02 trying to help you out....

      Re: were to put 6x9s

actualy sound domain or some other website tested 600.4, and they got 74 watts rms per ch ant 14.0 V so at 14.4 it should get 75 watts rms +, so its pritty good with achiving adverticed ratings. and ya thouse ratings are in rms
Exile are old engineers of phoenix gold so i trust em. the amp is new, was in my buddy's car with a blow engine for 6 months. i got it for 50$ considering it was 350-400 when he got it its an awesome deal.

those speakers might be the best in the world but i just don't have experiance with that brand.

they sounded good on top the hatch cover, but thats "freeair" i will put them in to the cover soon and then the mid bass will improve,
on a side note the polk audio fronts i installed have a partly blown mid bass on the driver side, so i will proly put the stock 4"ers back in untill i get components for the front.

What about installing some 6" midbass speakers in the fronts till you get comps?

so thouse would play mid bass only, and no highs? what im thinking is i should rip out the tweaters out of the blown polks and use em insted of the stock tweater in the pillars

      Re: were to put 6x9s

Actually midbass speakers can play highs but they are not as directional/concentrated as the highs that you get from tweeters. If you are interested in a nice affordable component set let me know.
