      2009 Aveo5 sound system

As a new owner of a Chevy Aveo5, I have to first and foremost say that I love this car. My only gripe is with the stock sound system. I'm a big fan of music (as I'm sure the rest of the world is) and I love crisp, clear music with solid bass. The stock sound system in my car does not provide that. So, my questions are as follows:

How many speakers are in this car?
      What size are they?
      Are they easy to replace?
      Are they expensive to replace?

Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, as a new member of these forums, I have to say I'm impressed. You all confirmed my decision to buy such a great automobile!

      Re: 2009 Aveo5 sound system

did u get the premium sound package with the car??
if it does u have six speakers, 4 in in the front doors, 6x9 in the rear deck, and tweeters on the pillars
if u didnt get the premium package u have four speakers, the 4in in the doors and 6x9 in the rear deck.
there not that hard to replace if u have done speakers urself before. if u want nice crisp sound from the speakers u can replace everything with 6 1/2in. speakers, and theres a how-to on here on how to do the front doors, and they sell plates so a 6 1/2 will fit in the 6x9 hole. if u want a sub id say 1 12in if u want some room in the back for putting ur stuff, if not go with 2.

depending on the quality of speakers u want they can be inexpensive say $69 for a set of 6 1/2, or go high end for $250 per set.

hope this helps and welcome to the forum

the rear speakers are 4x6 and not 6x9 as was stated above, if your short on cash, but you want to make a move in to the right direction, upgrade the deck and even the stock speakers will sound better.

I put in Pioneer TS-D720C Premiere System (http://tinyurl.com/6jplf8) about $220.00 US.
6-3/4 woofs in the doors using the adapters that came with the speakers. The speakers also come with separate crossovers and tweeters. While the woofs fit in the door and the door panel fits well, the windows don't completely roll down. (I have the Aveo5 200. The bottom of the window hits the speaker magnets. I would need to put in a 1.5 inch spacer to clear the window.

      Re: 2009 Aveo5 sound system

Consider upgrading the speakers to 02 Audio, Bravox Audio, Hybrid Audio, Genesis, Morel, Rainbow, Hertz, or Focal....any of which would give you the added bass depth that the current speakers lack. If you need any help in choosing any product let me know I am always willing to help...

      Re: 2009 Aveo5 sound system

Thanks for all of the advice guys. How difficult is it to remove the door panels to replace the door speakers. Also, how difficult is it to remove the rear speakers? I noticed that just a thin piece of material layering the trunk is what covers the speakers as well. How easy is this to remove without causing damage?

So simply putting a quality pair of speakersin the door should make a big diffference? Without changing the deck?

      Re: 2009 Aveo5 sound system

im just going to add to this so this can become a 2009 FYI/FAQ thread on stereos.

is the wiring harness for say an 07 the same as an 09?

and do these radios have a lock code/safe mode in them if the battery is disconnected?

      thanks
