      Angry Tach lag, why?

Hello, I am wondering why the tach lags soooo bad when the rpm changes and if there is a way to fix it. Do I have to install an aftermarket tach, or can the problem be fixed? Im really getting sick of how sloppy the tach response is. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

That is just how they made it. I would imagine an aftermarket tach would respond more quickly.

Thanks for pointing it out. Now my OCD will kick in at it will drive me nuts, too. I am guessing your Momma taught you it's nice to share. Maybe Racetek gauge cluster or aftermarket tach and speedo on a fabricated IP insert? Gonna be a long winter...

And as an extension to that question - why do they put it there in the first place? I would trade it in a heartbeat for an accurate oil temp/pressure gauge. And this of course isn't just an Aveo thing. Our new (last year) Kia has a bunch of things in the cluster - all kinds of information available. But, NO engine heat gauge of any kind. So, instead of getting advanced warning from a climbing gauge, you now get the idiot light that tells you that the HG is about to blow in the next 2 seconds. However, it does have a very large tach that's really easy to read

Yes, but i can still see it with my peripheral vision and it's quite annoying. My civic had no such problem.
