      Removing front bumper on '06

Our Aveo has been off the road since last March. During the summer it was involved at some point in a fender bender, for lack of better words...someone backed into it where it was parked unattended.

So, before pulling it out of its summer slumber for the winter months I want to replace the bumper.

It appears that not only is the plastic cover toast, but the brace is bent as well...but structurally everything appears good... I have several options - replace just the cover (cosmetic fix only, what I'm thinking of doing since our Aveo is relegated to a winter car now), or replacing the whole front assembly.

Can anyone detail the advantages / disadvantages of one vs the other, and perhaps someone also has a link to a detailed thread where the procedure may be covered? I searched but didn't find much at a quick glance so far as a "step 1, 2, 3" type tutorial.

      Thanks!

very simple to take the bumper off. start at the wheel wells and take the fender covers off.(clips/screws) This allows access to the screws that hold the bumper on from the wheel wells. Then go under the front end and take the clips/screws off. Just go at it, it isn't that bad at all. Probably all I used was a 7mm ratchet, stubby screwdriver, flathead. And if replacing anything start with junkyards.
