      Will the 2009 1.6 work in a 2005 car?

      Hi guys.
I was wondering if anyone has atempted to install a 2009 or newer engine in one of the 04 or 05 cars? I can get a good deal on an 05 but even the engines for the 06 and 07 models are getting hard to come by. Any light anyone could shed on this would be very helpful. I have seen many threads with people installing the 06 and 07 engines with good results.

+1^ If your going to swap in a new engine do it right. They are getting hard to come by because people still dont change there belt in time.

it is still a swap, but it will bolt in.. you will need the harness computer, etc. possibly the lead to the fuse box. i've never done a side by side comparison, but the 09 has a different harness in the dash as well.

instead of the 09 1.6, you should step up to the sonic, cruze 1.8. same engine but bigger and @ 140 hp.

I was just wondering if I swapped the 05 parts over to the 09 long block, would it start and run without a problem besides the crank reeducation? I really don't want to have the car down for to long and don't really have the funds for a turbo engine and transmission.
